Cor Cor is a relatively new rum brand from Japan.  More specifically the Japanese island of South Borodino, Minamidaito, Okinawa.  I can’t say I’m familiar with the region either.  Japanese geography isn’t my strongest subject.

Dzama are a brand of rums from Madagascar, pronounced “Zama” it was founded in 1980 by Lucien Fohine.  Groupe Vidzar is the controlling company. Dictador Distillery Icon Reserve Aged 20 Years Solera System Rum review by the fat rum pirateDictador Distillery Icon Reserve Aged 20 Years Solera System Rum.  Quite a mouthful but thats what they’ve put on the label.  Quite how Aged 20 Years and “Solera System Rum” works is anyones guess, however.

Dictador are a rum brand from Colombia. They also have lines of coffee, cigars and gin.  I’ve not been around the rum scene for that long but Dictador 12 was one of the first “premium” rums I bought.  I reviewed it in the early days of this blog. As was one of the aims of this blog I have learnt a great deal about rum since then.  I won’t revisit that review until I have completed this one.  I don’t recall being blown away by Dictador 12 though. Cadenhead’s BMC Epris Distillery 15 Years Old

Cadenheads BMC Epris Distillery Rum Review by the fat rum pirate CachacaCadenhead’s BMC Epris Distillery is another offering from the Scottish Independent bottler.  More famous for their numerous whisky bottlings Cadenhead’s regularly release rums.  Many are your usual Demerara and Bajan offerings but they also bottle rum from more exotic locations such as Belize, Nicaragua and with this offering Brasil. Rhum J.M Millesime 2003

Rhum J.M are an Agricole Rhum producer from Macouba on the French speaking Caribbean island of Martinique.

Located in northern Martinique at the foot of Mount Pelée.Habitation Bellevue produces sugarcane which is grown up the face of a volcano.

The Housing Bellevue, located on the flanks of Mount Pelee, with rich volcanic soil, allows the sugar cane used exclusively by Rhum J.M. to have unique flavour.  Agricole Rhum producers are very keen on using marketing terms such as “terroir” when describing their rums.  This is because Agricole in the main, is produced on only a few small islands so it doesn’t have quite as much obvious or immediate diversity as the molasses rum world. Trois Rivieres Cuvee de Moulin

Trois Rivieres Cuvee de Moulin Rum Review by the fat rum pirateTrois Rivieres Cuvee de Moulin – Rough translation Three Rivers Blend of the Mill.  Is a limited edtion expression from Martinique producer Trois Rivieres.

It is a blend of rums carefully matured for over three years in ex Cognac and Bourbon casks. Marketed as a  “rhum vieux agricole” – aged. The producer advises it can be sipped neat or mixed in cocktails. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

HSE Black Sheriff

HSE Habitation Saint Etienne Black Sherrif Rum Review by the fat rum pirateHSE or Habitation Saint Etienne are an agricole rhum distiller based on the French speaking island of Martinque.

Habitation Saint Etienne was modelled after “La Maugée”, a sugar refinery covering over 400 hectares from Gros Morne to Saint Joseph in the early 19th century.

In 1909, the property came into the possession of the Simonnet family who developed the distillery activity until its decline at the end of the 1980s. The estate was taken over in 1994 by Yves and José Hayot, who relaunched the Saint-Etienne brand. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating
