The Scoring System used by thefatrumpirate.com is a slightly adapted version used by Dave Broom in his book the Bible, sorry Rum.
Rum will be rated and compared against similar rum in terms of price, style and preference towards mixing or sipping. A rum marketed solely at mixing’s score is not comparable to that of a more premium priced sipping rum, well it shouldn’t be anyway! Certain styles of rum may be more favoured. This is solely due to my personal preference. This is not a panel of judges.
The scoring system is a simple 5 star affair (half marks will also be awarded).
Excellent – Exceptional/Amongst the best
Very Good – Highly recommended
Good – I’d be happy buying this again
Average – Unforgettable. A bit meh
Poor – Shite
The system also awards half marks starting at
Very Poor – Utter shite
The remaining half star rating fall between the two whole stars. So 2 1/2 stars would be above average but not quite good etc/
