Silver Seal Dennery Superior St Lucian Rum. The use of the “Dennery Distillery” on this bottling (and others) by Silver Seal has caused quite a lot of consternation from those currently involved at St Lucia Distillers. Dennery is a completely different site to where the only St Lucian rum producer – St Lucia Distillers are now housed.
Liberte Black Spiced Rum is a new entrant to the ever expanding Spiced Rum market. Liberte Black Spiced Rum is actually a supermarket “own brand”. This one hails from German discount supermarket Lidl.
It has already received a bit of coverage in the press as perhaps being an alternative to the ever Popular “The Kraken”. The Kraken pretty much has the “Dark Spiced” market sewn up. For some reason despite the ongoing popularity of Morgan’s Spiced Gold – the Captain Morgan company have done little to promote or make available their Black Spiced Rum in the UK. Despite making it pretty much a Kraken knock off in terms of appearance.
Rum Coruba or Coruba Rum depending on which bottlings you are looking at, are a Jamaican rum brand. Rum Coruba 18 Years Old hails from the Appleton Estate.
Information on the brand, though reasonably plentiful is often contradictory and as a result quite unreliable. If during the course of this review I do get anything wrong please let me know. I have tried to use the most reliable looking information I could trace. At times it is as if there are two different brands with the same name.
MANCHESTER RUM FESTIVAL RETURNS FOR ITS SECOND YEAR
Manchester Rum Festival to host round two at Manchester Cathedral
Manchester Rum Festival, the cities only official festival of its kind for the rum category, is returning Friday 1st June 2018, heading to the iconic Manchester Cathedral.
With the 2017 launch of Manchester’s first dedicated rum festival turning out to be a sell-out success, organizer and owner Dave Marsland of Drinks Enthusiast has turned to the historic venue to house over 75 brands of rum from all over the world, a dedicated cocktail bar for classic signature serves, and the chance to purchase via local independent retailer Riddles Emporium’s on-site shop.
Ron Cartavio Solera 12 Years, hails like Paddington Bear from Peru. Whether it is deepest darkest Peru I am not quite sure but its definitely Peru. Alongside Ron Cartavio sits Ron Millonario as Peru’s other notable rum.
Both rums are exported outside of Latin America and both Cartavio and Millonario are regularly available here in the UK. I make no apologies for the title of this review – that is how the rum is labelled by the producers. That is how I arrive at my titles, in an attempt to make things as clear as possible. From a personal viewpoint I don’t think Solera 12 Years is clear in terms of the true age of this product. Being honest its a crock of shit.
Savanna Grand Arome Lontan. Savanna or Rhum Savanna are a rum producer from the Reunion Island. This particular Savanna bottling is a “Grand Arome”.
The Savanna distillery has been established since 1992 on the sugar refinery site of Bois Rouge, located in the North-East of the island of Reunion. It is one of the only ones in the world to market a rum from a very long fermentation (15 days) called “Grand Arome”.
