Santos Dumont XO Rum

Santos Dumont XO Rum Review by the fat rum pirateSantos Dumont XO Rum. This rum is marketed as a Brasilian rum, rather than cachaca. Quite why this was the case I was initially unsure about. Fortunately, some research made some things a lot clearer. Whilst at the same time telling me very little…..

First up who might this Santos Dumont character be? Well, he was a World Famous Aviation pioneer, Noble Man, Celebrity and Style Icon, back in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. His father Henri Dumont was known as the Coffee King of Brasil. As well as this rum there is also an Elixir released by the Santos Dumont brand. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Stolen Overproof Rum

S3

Stolen Overproof Rum review by the fat rum pirateStolen Overproof Rum. This is a rum which has been much spoken about on the other side of the pond. Much Like Doctor Bird it is an independent bottling of Jamaican rum, which the Yanks have been able to get their hands on ahead of their European counterparts. Which is pretty unusual in the grand scheme of things. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Pusser’s Rum 50th Anniversary Rum

Sol Tarasco Extra Aged Charanda Hongos

Sol Tarasco Extra Aged Charanda Hongos rum review by the fat rum pirateSol Tarasco Extra Aged Charanda Hongos. We are diversifying once again. Whilst it is essentially “rum” it has it’s own little nuances, defined by the “terroir” of the spirit. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

A1710 La Perle Brute 2017 rhum rum review by the fat rum pirateA1710 La Perle Brute 2017. This is a rhum which caused a bit of stir at the London Rumfest back in 2018. La Perle Brute, which translates to the Raw Pearl is a rhum that is distilled from sugarcane juice, rather than molasses.

Situated in the North East of the Caribbean island Martinique, which is already famous for Rhum Agricole, sits the Yves Assier de Pompignan distillery. A very small distillery, which currently only produces white rhum agricole. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Foursquare Rum Distillery Sagacity

Foursquare Rum Distillery Rum Review by the fat rum pirateFoursquare Rum Distillery Sagacity. Another rum from Foursquare and another exceptional cask. Which is fine with me as these rums have been amongst the best and most affordable premium rum releases over the past few years.

Sagacity, please note it’s not Saga-City but Sag-assity as it’s old school French/Latin in origin. It means “the quality of being discerning, sound of judgement”. To be fair anyone who has been buying these Exceptional Casks releases over the past few years has certainly been exactly that. “Knowing good judgement” is the tagline on this bottle.
