St Abbs Six Spice Rum is as the title suggests another Spiced rum to be added to the already very crowded segment of the market. St Abbs currently have three rums in their range. The trademark Captain’s Table XO, Cask Silver (a white rum) and this their Six Spice Spiced Rum.
St Abbs Six Spices used the Cask Silver as its base rum. It is then infused with six different spices and a dollop of blackstrap molasses. Giving colour and a bit of depth. The six spiced used in the blend are Ginger, Vanilla, Clove, Black Pepper, Cinnamon and Star Anise.
Bounty Rum is something of a staple rum in its homeland the island of Saint Lucia. Finding a bottle of this rum become something of an obsession for the completist in me. I’ve always had a soft spot for Saint Lucia Distilers (SLD) and I’ve wanted to try this rum for a long time.
Finally I found a bottle at Drinks Supermarket here in the UK. Complete with HMRC customs stamp on the actual label. Suggesting that this was at one point distributed in the UK. Indeed it was imported by the current SLD Importer Emporia Brands. Quite how old this bottle is I’m not sure. I suspect it is stock that Drinks Supermarket stumbled across in their warehouse after forgetting they had the odd bottle.
Cloven Hoof Spiced Rum is made by Guilty Libations, here in the UK in Oxfordshire. Anyone who has attended the various Rum Festivals that have sprung up all around the UK in the past year may be familiar with the brand.
It is hard to miss. Big, bold and very brash! Cloven Hoof Spiced rum is blend of Guyanese and Trini rums. Mixed with (and I quote) “a mysterious concoction of natural spices”. The presentation is almost Heavy Metal. Their website has several “endorsements” from various bands I have never heard of. Nor do I like the look of.
Ron Viejo de Caldas 3 Anos. The rum hails from Colombia. It is produced at Industria Licocera de Caldas. As a result of this quite a lot of the information available online is in Spanish. I’ve tried translating things but the free translation tools are pretty naff. So I’ve cobbled together what I could find in English.
