Aguardente de Cana Rum Agricola da Madeira Calheta. I found this in a small liquor store in Funchal, Madeira last summer. I’d not seen or heard of the brand before so it was an immediate purchase.
I always figure when faced with such rums in far flung locations it’s worth picking a bottle up if the price is reasonable. You may never get the chance to try it again.
Saint Benevolence Rum Clairin. Saint Benevolence is a charitable organisation which was set up in 2017 by father and son team Calvin and Chase Babcock. This follows on four decades of work by Calvin in helping the people of Haiti.
That Boutique-y Rum Company Issan Rum Thailand. The Issan Distillery is situated in the North of Thailand. They release their own rums under the name of the distillery. I’m pretty sure they don’t have much of a distribution deal in Europe (particularly the UK) because I cannot recall seeing any of their own releases for sale here.
Bimber Distillery London Rum. The Bimber journey is one that has it’s beginnings in Malt Whisky. The Craft Micro Distillery at 56 Sunbeam Road, London NW10 6JQ began by producing a Malt Whisky.
Habitation Velier Forsyths 151 Proof White 2nd edition. A version of this type of rum was originally released back in 2016. This 2nd edition was released earlier this year. Should you be unsure which release you are buying the 2nd edition comes in a see through bottle and the first edition. was released in an opaque bottle.
Cor Cor Red Okinawan Rum. Cor Cor Red and Green first seriously caught my eye at London Rumfest 2017. They were displaying at the Boutique Rumfest on the Friday afternoon. A show which is designed for new rums to display their wares to the “trade”. Its the part of the weekend I personally enjoy the most. The atmosphere is a little more restrained and you get to try a lot of new rums.
Cor Cor Green – Okinawan Rum. Cor Cor is a relatively new rum brand from Japan. More specifically the Japanese island of South Borodino, Minamidaito, Okinawa. I can’t say I’m familiar with the region either. Japanese geography isn’t my strongest subject.
