Cachaca Patua de Alambique Carvalho

Cachaca Patua de Alambique Carvalho rum review by the fat rum pirateCachaca Patua de Alambique Carvalho.  Cachaca Patua was founded by Cachaca Conoisseur Walter Carlos Brossel, in 2017. The distillery is situated in Betim a city in Minas Gerais State. The birthplace of cachaca.

Cachaca Patua produced their cachaca from estate grown sugar cane. Like all truly artisanal cachaca producers they distill in small batches on traditional Copper Pot Stills. At present Cachaca Patua produce 25,000 litres of cachaca per year which is spread across their 4 expressions. That said the Patua Reserva Especial only has 400 bottles produced per year. Novo Fogo Silver Cachaca

Novo Fogo Silver Cachaca rum review by the fat rum pirateNovo Fogo Silver Cachaca. As I continue my journey into the world of cachaca I am encountering a few cachaca brands which are more geared for the export market, rather than the huge domestic market in Brasil.

One such brand is Novo Fogo. I have previously reviewed a couple of their expressions a Barrel Aged cachaca and  their Tanager blend. Both were pretty good. So having taken some time out to sort out my samples boxes into some kind of order I dug into my cachaca box and came out with Novo Fogo Silver. So we’ll give it a spin today. Cachaca Tabua Flor de Prata rum review by the fat rum pirate Cachaca Tabua Flor de Prata. We are back in Salinas, Minas Gerais for this review of a white cachaca from  Tabua Industria e Comercio de Cachaca Ltda. Luckily they stick to just Tabua for this brand of cachaca.

Companheira Gatinha Cachaca

Companheira Gatinha Cachaca rum review by the fat rum pirateCompanheira Gatinha Cachaca. This is the second release from Companheira (Companion in English) that I have reviewed. I have previously reviewed the brands Extra Premium, which was one of the best cachacas I have sipped to date.

Companheira have been producing cachaca since 1994 and have a number of products in their portfolio. Companheira Gatinha has won awards recently at the Expocachaca in 2018 and Cacharitiba earlier this year. As a result of this I am assuming that it is a fairly recent addition to the market. Santos Dumont XO Rum

Santos Dumont XO Rum Review by the fat rum pirateSantos Dumont XO Rum. This rum is marketed as a Brasilian rum, rather than cachaca. Quite why this was the case I was initially unsure about. Fortunately, some research made some things a lot clearer. Whilst at the same time telling me very little…..

First up who might this Santos Dumont character be? Well, he was a World Famous Aviation pioneer, Noble Man, Celebrity and Style Icon, back in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. His father Henri Dumont was known as the Coffee King of Brasil. As well as this rum there is also an Elixir released by the Santos Dumont brand. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating
