vale do sol organicos cachaca Ouro Rum Review by the fat rum pirateVale do Sol Organicos Cachaca Ouro. This cachaça hails from the “Sun Valley” in the state of Rio Grande do Sol in the south of Brasil. The distillery is situated in Parana.

Like a few cachacas, I have noticed that the brand are very proud about being an “Organic” cachaça producer. They are another producer that do not use any pesticides etc and do everything “in-house” at the distillery. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Novo Fogo Barrel Aged Cachaca

Novo Fogo Barrel Aged Cachaca Rum Review by the fat rum pirateNovo Fogo Barrel Aged Cachaca. Novo Fogo are a cachaça brand I have been aware of for a while now. They have made a bit of a stir in the US, where the brand was first launched.

Novo Fogo use more modern branding and marketing practices, than many of Brasil’s cachaça producers. The cachaça is marketed in a similar manner to how a Premium Rum brand would market itself. However, they do not go in for fairy stories, like many Premium Rum Brands. The information Novo Fogo provide, is authentic and focuses very much on transparency. You learn a lot about what you are drinking with Novo Fogo. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

S.B.S – The 1423 Single Barrel Selection Venezuela 2006

S.B.S - The 1423 Single Barrel Selection Venezuela 2006 rum review by the fat rum pirate. Another bottling from our Danish Friends 1423. This time I’m trying some single cask rum from Venezuela. I don’t think I have covered much cask strength Venezuelan rum over the years. I’ve extensively covered the more commercial Diageo puts out such as Cacique and Pampero.

I have also, of course reviewed the various Diplomatico offerings and Santa Teresa. It’s been a bit of a mixed bag. I don’t mind some of the younger rums for mixing and the some of the aged rum Santa Teresa 1796 and Pampero Anniversario Reserva Exclusiva I thoroughly enjoyed – and still do.
