Top CBD Spirits Spiced Rum. Top Beverages Limited are a new company set up by entrepeneurs Nick Pullen and Saf Ali. They have released no fewer than nine products, as part of their brand’s Top Beverages launch.
This Spiced Rum is one of three rum expressions they have released. Now, I will be perfectly honest at this stage that I was extremely sceptical about CBD infused or Hemp rum. The other rums in the series are a White Rum and a Mocha Flavoured Rum.
Bumbu XO Rum. Probably the most criticised “rum” over the past couple of years amongst more “serious” rum enthusiasts, has been Bumbu The Original.
However, amongst less serious rum imbibers, Bumbu The Original is hugely popular. Any drink which is stocked by supermarkets, for any length of time will be selling a fair few units. Bumbu The Original, I dare say is selling more than most.
Cachaca Barril 12 Cachaca Extra Premium. We are back on the hunt for some Premium Cachaca, rums (though it’s highly debatable) older brother. Today we are visiting the city of Caldas Novas in the state of Goias located in the centre-left in Brasil.
Cachacaria Vale das Aguas Quentes is where Cachaca Barril 12 is produced. The sugarcane is harvested on site at the 300 hectare plantation. As well as sugarcane, local fruits are also grown at this location. Cachacaria Vale das Aguas Quentes produce a number of different products, such as flavoured cachaca and liqueuers. Santos Dumont XO Rum. This rum is marketed as a Brasilian rum, rather than cachaca. Quite why this was the case I was initially unsure about. Fortunately, some research made some things a lot clearer. Whilst at the same time telling me very little…..
First up who might this Santos Dumont character be? Well, he was a World Famous Aviation pioneer, Noble Man, Celebrity and Style Icon, back in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. His father Henri Dumont was known as the Coffee King of Brasil. As well as this rum there is also an Elixir released by the Santos Dumont brand.

Stolen Overproof Rum. This is a rum which has been much spoken about on the other side of the pond. Much Like Doctor Bird it is an independent bottling of Jamaican rum, which the Yanks have been able to get their hands on ahead of their European counterparts. Which is pretty unusual in the grand scheme of things.
Pusser’s Rum 50th Anniversary Rum. To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Black Tot day on the 31st July 2020 Pusser’s have decided to release this Limited Edition rum. Only 3,600 bottles of this rum will ever exist.
For those unfamiliar with Pusser’s, they purchased the rights and recipe to produce a Navy Rum, which recreates the blend used by the British Royal Navy. Founder Charles Tobias formed Pusser’s Rum Ltd in 1979.
Sol Tarasco Extra Aged Charanda Hongos. We are diversifying once again. This time our journey into other Sugar Cane derived spirits is taking us to Central America. Charanda is to Mexico what Cachaca is to Brasil. Whilst it is essentially “rum” it has it’s own little nuances, defined by the “terroir” of the spirit.
