Bedford Park Spirits Hampden H 10 Year Old. Enter Bedford Park Spirits, a UK indie bottler that has steadily built a reputation by picking casks that actually matter to rum enthusiasts and bottling them without nonsense.
No added sugar. No E150 and non-chill filtered. Just rum that tastes like the place it came from. You can tell they have links to the Scotch Whisky world simply by the phrase “non chill filtered” I can almost here Ralfy uttering those very same words.
Twin Fin Barrel Aged Rum. From the outset it seems that Twin Fin is one of those brands that seems to have arrived with a very clear idea of who it’s for, and just as importantly, who it isn’t.
There’s no attempt to muscle in on the hardcore enthusiast space, no claims of ancient recipes or secret fermentation techniques. Instead, Twin Fin leans into a relaxed, lifestyle-led identity that suggests surfboards, sunsets and uncomplicated enjoyment.
Geographic Indications (GIs): The End of Creative Geography in the Rum World
The rum world is finally being forced into a conversation it has managed to sidestep for decades: Geographic Indications (GIs).
For some producers this is a welcome step towards clarity. In fact, it is those producers who are largely calling for change. For others, it would appear to be catastrophic to their very existence.
Foursquare Mandamus. Here we have another word that I never heard or come across before………Mandamus is Latin for “we command”, a legal term referring to a court order compelling action.
It’s a suitably assertive name, and one that feels very much in keeping with the Foursquare ECS range. These releases no longer arrive as curiosities or experiments, they arrive with a certain expectation attached. Foursquare Mandamus is not here to introduce anyone to the Foursquare Rum Distillery, nor is it designed to broaden its appeal. It assumes a certain level of familiarity and interest from the outset. It knows its target audience.
Don Papa Baroko. Every now and again a bottle or sample arrives that I know is going to be good for a review but not necessarily good for me. I usually try to hide my opinion on a rum but I can imagine a good many of you have clicked, expecting the worst. Or best depending on how you see such reviews.
Dead Reckoning “The Bosun’s Persuader” Barbados. Over the past few years Dead Reckoning have developed a bit of a reputation for bottling rums from Foursquare Distillery.
I would also argue that they have perhaps gained a reputation for bottling the BEST Independently bottled Foursquare Distillery rum. Don’t believe me? Well let me explain……..
Ron Barceló Blanco Anejado. Some might suggest I am a glutton for punishment. We closed out 2025 with a less than inspiring rum from Ron Barceló. Like that selection this bottling is another “bargain” from Amazon.
Despite holidaying in Spain on a frequent basis I don’t recall ever seeing this particular white version before. I’d seen a more Premium white and simple Blanco but never a Blanco Anejado.
