The two brands seem to co-exist without any litigation – I’m not sure how you could or would go about trademarking something as generic as Bounty. I’m sure if you could Mars would have been onto both these rum companies by now.
Chairman’s Reserve Master’s Selection – UK Rum Club Exclusive. This particular post isn’t going to be quite what you might be expecting. It’s not MY review of the Chairman’s Reserve Master’s Selection – UK Rum Club Exclusive.
No, I’ve chosen not to review the 100% Vendome Pot Still single cask number 173, which was chosen by Steven James (Rum Diaries Blog) and myself. It would in my mind be a bit pointless and could easily cause a lot of criticism, if I gave what was effectively my own bottling a 5 star rating, for example. I’ve recently reviewed the Chairman’s Reserve Legacy which I also recommend!
Chairman’s Reserve Legacy. Saint Lucia Distillers (SLD) have been very busy these past few years. Rapidly expanding their rum portfolio, especially in the export market. Building upon the Chairman’s Reserve name in the shape of a continuous 1931 release, they have also released several single casks and limited edition rums under the Chairman’s Reserve banner.
Admiral Rodney Officer’s Releases No.1 – Port Cask Finish. Admiral Rodney is a rum brand, which is produced by Saint Lucia Distillers. It started off as a single name for one of their rums. Since then the rum has expanded into a range of 3 core rums, and a (dosed) Denmark only release. Now they are beginning a series entitled the Officer’s Releases.
Chairman’s Reserve 2005 Vintage. Chairman’s Reserve Finest Saint Lucia Rum has been available since 1999, long before I got into rum.
It has even worked it’s way into UK supermarket shelves and has been stocked by Sainsbury’s for at least 7 or 8 years. It has certainly helped raise the profile of “Supermarket” rum.
Chairman’s Reserve Master’s Selection 2011 8 Years Old. Another The Whisky Exchange exclusive following on from the 2006 – 13 Year Old, released earlier in the year.
These bottlings from Saint Lucia Distillers have been popping up all over the place with a number of retailers buying single casks as well as other rum groups commissioning bottles.
Bounty Saint Lucia Rum Premium Dark. Not be confused with the Bounty Rum brand which comes out of Fiji. I reviewed an Overproof from Fiji Rum Company here. I also have previously reviewed the “original” Bounty Gold here.
I’d actually tried for a long time to get a taster of the Bounty Gold. I eventually tracked down a bottle – hence the review last year. No sooner had I got the rum I began hearing that a new range of Bounty rums was coming to the UK.
