Langs Banana Jamaican Rum. It’s been a while since we’ve reviewed anything Spiced or Flavoured. Whilst I tend not to buy much Spiced/Flavoured, unless I fancy it will be very popular for a review, I do still find the odd sample or two of Spiced/Flavoured rum comes my way.
Langs Banana Jamiacan Rum is brought to us by Ian McLeod Distillers. More famous in the Scotch Whisky world for bringing Tamdhu, Glengoyne and Smokehead to the market they do dabble in rum. Indeed they produce two pretty popular “dark” rum expressions in Watson’s Demerara and Trawler Rum.
Kopparberg Cherry Flavoured Spiced Rum. Fair play to Kopparberg by labelling this rum as both Spiced and Flavoured along with hitting the minimal 37.5% ABV they are producing a Spiced/Flavoured rum in line with EU regulations. Rather than the numerous Rum based Spirit Drinks that have appeared on our shelves (alongside rum) in recent years.
Hoxton Banana Rum. As well as being a part of East London, Hoxton is also the name taken by Gerry Calabrese, who is the founder of Hoxton Spirits London. He is, as his website declares a “Drinks Maverick”.
Diablesse Clementine Spiced Rum. La Diablesse is a character in Caribbean fokelore. More specifically the island of Grenada.
Jamaica Cove Black Ginger Rum. I’ve noticed a few Ginger flavoured rums appear on the market over the past couple of years. We’ve always tried on this site to help with people’s curiosity when usual or different rums appear. Especially when they are priced at the mid and lower end of the market.
Stiggins’ Fancy 1824 Recipe Pineapple Rum has finally hit UK shores. Plantation the makers of this rum have certainly created a real buzz around this and the sole current stockist of this rum have been overwhelmed with demand for this product.
Hailing from Jamaica comes Koko Kanu. Which is a first on this site as its a flavoured, rather than a “Spiced” rum. Distilled by J Wray and Nephew it certainly should have a solid rum at the heart of it.
