Ron Rumbero Cuban Rum Aged 7 Years

Ron Rumbero Cuban Rum Aged 7 Years Rum review by the fat rum pirate Ron Rumbero Cuban Rum Aged 7 Years. Sadly the review of this particular rum is not as a result of a trip to Cuba. Nor is it even the result of a brief sojourn to Europe. It is in fact due to a visit to the Lidl Supermarket on Roker Avenue……..

I appreciate that those of you familiar with this site will be surprised to see someone as sophisticated and refined as myself shopping in a discount German Supermarket. Especially those who have met me. This bottling was of course purchased for me by my domestic help on their weekly shop. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Ron Zacapa Centenario Sistema Solera 23 Etiqueta Negra

Ron Zacapa Centenario Sistema Solera 23 Etiqueta Negra Review by the fat rum pirateRon Zacapa Centenario Sistema Solera 23 Etiqueta Negra. This is a rum which you will probably struggle to find in this particular form now. It was a limited edition release primarly for the German and Italian market. It was released to replace the “Black Label” Ron Zacapa 23 and has itself been superseded by Edicion Negra. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

What took me by surprise was the inclusion of a new Gold rum aged for 4 years. It surprised me as it has landed right from release straight into one the UK’s largest supermarkets – ASDA. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Diplomatico Distillery Collection No2 Barbet Rum

Diplomatico Distillery Collection No2 Barbet Rum Review by the fat rum pirateDiplomatico Distillery Collection No2 Barbet Rum. Late in 2017 Diplomatico released two new expressions. Diplomatico Mantuano

Diplomatico Botucal Mantuano Rum Review by the fat rum pirateDiplomatico (or Botucal in Germany) Mantuano – meaning nobleman and also a cocoa producing town in Venezeula.  Which is where Diplomatico rums are produced.

Diplomatico Mantuano was showcased at the London Rumfest in October 2016.  It is a direct replacement for the companies Reserva rum.  It has retained the orange parts of that rums colour scheme and the ornate rounded stubby bottle.  I always feel these bottles look smaller than most 70cl bottles.  Clearly this is an optical illusion as they hold the same amount of liquor.
