Ron Rumbero Cuban Rum Aged 7 Years

Ron Rumbero Cuban Rum Aged 7 Years Rum review by the fat rum pirate Ron Rumbero Cuban Rum Aged 7 Years. Sadly the review of this particular rum is not as a result of a trip to Cuba. Nor is it even the result of a brief sojourn to Europe. It is in fact due to a visit to the Lidl Supermarket on Roker Avenue……..

I appreciate that those of you familiar with this site will be surprised to see someone as sophisticated and refined as myself shopping in a discount German Supermarket. Especially those who have met me. This bottling was of course purchased for me by my domestic help on their weekly shop. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Ron Santiago de Cuba Ron Extra Anejo 11 Anos

Ron Santiago de Cuba Ron Extra Anejo 11 Anos rum review by the fat rum pirateRon Santiago de Cuba Ron Extra Anejo 11 Anos. I use the exact naming convention adopted on the bottles I review, so apologies for the extra brevity of this reviews title. I guess much like me, these Cuban rum producers have a tendency to waffle…..

For those of you who are unaware and I guess this is where my review is designed to assist, Ron Santiago de Cuba (formerly just Santiago de Cuba) has begun working with global booze conglomerate Diageo. This has led to a re-brand and increased availability here in the UK and Europe. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Legendario Ron Dorado

Legendario Ron Dorado Rum Review by the fat rum pirateLegendario Ron Dorado. Perhaps one of the most ironic things about the Legendario brand is that, arguably it’s most famous rum isn’t even a rum. The “seven year old”  Elixir de Cuba is exactly that an Elixir.

Unfortunately not a lot of people know what it is. If you are puzzled by this yourself then please read my review above of the Elixir de Cuba. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Bacardi Facundo Exquisito Rum

Bacardi Facundo Exquisito Rum Review by the fat rum pirateBacardi Facundo Exquisito Rum. This rum is part of Bacardi’s Facundo range. The range is named after the original founder of Bacardi Don Facundo Bacardi Masso. Bacardi Facundo Exquisito Rum is the mid tier of the range.

Bacardu Facundo Exquisito Rum retails at around £100. Which is slightly less expensive than their flagsip Reserva Limitada. Bacardi Facundo Exquisto (meaning to be free) is distilled on multi column stills in Puerto Rico. It is a blend of rums aged between 7 and 23 years old. It has been bottled at a very conservative 40% ABV. The rum is aged in ex-bourbon casks before being blended and aged for a further month in ex-sherry casks. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Samaroli Caribbean Rum 2005

Samaroli Caribbean Rum 2005 review by the fat rum pirate Samaroli Caribbean Rum 2005. For those unfamiliar with Samaroli, they are an Italian Independent bottler of Whisky, Rum and other Spirits. The founder Silvano Samaroli sadly passed away on the 16 February 2017 aged 77. He had handed the reins of the Samaroli empire to Antonio Bieve in 2008 but had remained active within the company until his death. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Ron Mulata de Cuba Anejo 7 Anos

Ron Mulata de Cuba Anejo 7 AnosRon Mulata de Cuba Anejo 7 Anos. Every Christmas discount supermarket Aldi get some “premum” rum in. In the past we have seen El Dorado 8 Year Old and their 15 Year Old, The Kraken and this year we got Pink Pigeon Spiced Rum from Mauritius and Ron Mulata de Cuba Anejo 7 Anos.

It’s quite an expensive business reviewing all this rum so I take any discounts I can get. When Aldi get rums in for Christmas time they usually come with a sizeable discount. Ron Mulata de Cuba isn’t as easily available in the UK as it is in mainland Europe (Spain and Germany in particular). The 7 year old usually retails at around the £25-30 mark. Aldi were selling it for £17.99. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Bacardi Anejo Cuatro Aged 4 Years

Bacardi Anejo Cuatro Aged 4 Years Rum Review by the fat rum pirateBacardi Anejo Cuatro Aged 4 Years. Every few years (or is it months?) Bacardi seems to unveil its latest “Premium” offerings. Earlier this year Bacardi once again unveiled some new “Premium” expressions in the form of a new 8 and 10 year old rum.

What took me by surprise was the inclusion of a new Gold rum aged for 4 years. It surprised me as it has landed right from release straight into one the UK’s largest supermarkets – ASDA. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating
