Ron Cubay Anejo is a Cuban rum. In 1964 Ron Cubay was founded in Santo Domingo, Villa Clara. Ron Cubay rums are produced by Cuba Ron S.A which also produce Havana Club. The Ron Cubay brand was only ever intended for domestic consumption, hence the reason that we are only just seeing it in the UK with it only having a presence in Europe since around 2010.Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating
Cacique (which means leader of the tribe in Spanish) is the top selling rum brand in its homeland Venezuela. This news may come as a surprise to those more familiar with Venezuelan rums such as Pampero and Diplomatico. Brugal are one of the big three “B’s” in rum production on the Dominican Republic. (Barceló and Bermudez are the other two) For those who do not know the Domician Republic is the politically divided island of Hispaniola. The remaining part of the island is Haiti.
A couple of years ago Brugal began re-branding their slightly dated bottles. This coincided (no doubt deliberately) as they began to expand into Europe. Since the re-launch Brugal can now be seen in most style and cocktail bars in the UK. More often than not it will be this rum and the XV which will be stocked.Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating
