Leatherback Rum Barrel Strength Special Reserve. This rum is produced at North of 7 Distillery. Which is a micro distillery in Ottawa, Canada it is ran by avid rock climbers Greg Lipin and Jody Miall. You may think that is a pretty odd thing to point about someone. However, the reason is they run a rock climbing training gym right across the road from their North of 7 Distillery. They divide their time between the two businesses.

Kill Devil Guyana Aged 11 Years – Port Ellen Finish. In all honesty, looking over my notes I thought I had reviewed more Guyanese rum from Kill Devil, than I actually have. It seems a lot of my Kill Devil reviews have been from Hampden Estate, Jamaica.
Anyway back to Guyana we are. This is another Single Cask and Cask Strength rum from Kill Devil. Kill Devil for those who aren’t in the know is the rum branch of Hunter Laing, who are more famous for their independent whisky bottlings.
Cachaca Reserva do Zito Ipe. Our journey through Brasil continues, with another cachaca this time from the north of Brasil.
The history of the Reserva do Zito begins in 1945, when José Rufino, known as “Zito”, fled the drought of the Piauí backlands and began working at an old sugar cane mill in the city of Passagem Franca, Maranhao. Over time Zito became the owner and began his quest to create artisanal cachaca.
Uruapan Charanda Blanco Pure Single Agricola. Today I’m continuing my journey into what our Mexican friends call Charanda. For those unaware about Charanda, it is a alcoholic spirit which derives from sugar cane. This particular brand Uruapan, is also one the biggest cities in the state of Michoacan, were Charanda is exclusively produced.
That Boutique-y Rum Company Blended Rum No.1 – Jamaica 9 Year Old Batch 1. Nice short and snappy name for this particular rum from the sesquipedalian orators That Boutique-y Rum Company. Anyway I’ll get my head out of my Thesaurus and get this particular rum reviewed.
For the purposes of brevity I think we’ll call this one Blended Rum No.1 – Jamaica 9 Year. It’s a bit less of a mouthful. The SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) might not like me not using the full title but bugger it for this review.
Companheira Gatinha Cachaca. This is the second release from Companheira (Companion in English) that I have reviewed. I have previously reviewed the brands Extra Premium, which was one of the best cachacas I have sipped to date.
Companheira have been producing cachaca since 1994 and have a number of products in their portfolio. Companheira Gatinha has won awards recently at the Expocachaca in 2018 and Cacharitiba earlier this year. As a result of this I am assuming that it is a fairly recent addition to the market.
Privateer International – Distillers Drawer New England Rum Bottled in Bond #31. Hailing from Ipswich, Boston Privateer are a rum company that have been making great waves over in the US of A. Founded by Andrew Cabot in 2011, their rums are overseen by Head Distiller Maggie Campbell.
Privateers rums occasionally find their way over here to the UK, usually in very small amount via The Whisky Exchange. As a result it had proved quite tricky to obtain their rums to review. I have Ivar over at Rum Revelations to thank for this rum, by way of our latest sample swap at London Rumfest.
