Delicana Balsamo Aged 10 Years. We are back on the cachaca trail. However, in this instance I am introducing you to a cachaca brand from Germany. No, the cachaca obviously is not produced in Germany, but the brand owner Bert Ostermann hails from Friedberg, Germany and the cachaca is bottled there.

Riviere du Mat XO. Despite being founded way back in 1886 I have seen very little coverage of the rum/rhum which flies under the Riviere du Mat brand. For a reviewer it can be quite difficult to review numerous rums from the same distillery and come up with something new and interesting to say. However, today I am going to have to do a bit of digging to find out what Riviere du Mat is all about.
Mainbrace Premium Spliced Rum. Look again – read the title again. Don’t make my mistake. All is not as is first seems. Especially when you started drinking at 7am……
I was first introduced to Mainbrace at the Boutique Rum Fest, London in October last year. I say introduced what I mean is that I first completely ignored Mainbrace Rum at Boutique Rum Fest. Why? It’s Spiced Rum innit?
Cachaca Tabua Flor de Prata. We are back in Salinas, Minas Gerais for this review of a white cachaca from Tabua Industria e Comercio de Cachaca Ltda. Luckily they stick to just Tabua for this brand of cachaca.
Cachaca Tabua have two cachaca’s in their portfolio. This Flor de Ouro and a cachaca Flor de Ouro which is aged for 10 years in Balsam casks. Cachaca Tabua Flor de Prata has been bottled at 42% ABV. It is available in a variety of bottles sizes 50ml, 600ml, 670ml and 700ml. The price of the 600ml – 700ml size bottles seems to to vary quite a bit online. It can even be found on Amazon for R$45.
Hamilton 86 Ministry of Rum Collection Demerara River. Edward Hamilton is a well known figure in the rum world. His knowledge has been built up by sailing around the Caribbean islands and he has been an active writer, importer, rum-runner, brand owner and enthusiastic supporter of rum for a number of years. He runs the website and Facebook page Ministry of Rum, where has has gained the moniker Minister of Rum. He’s great friends with Capn Jimbo of the Rum Project.
Kill Devil Guyana Aged 11 Years – Port Ellen Finish. In all honesty, looking over my notes I thought I had reviewed more Guyanese rum from Kill Devil, than I actually have. It seems a lot of my Kill Devil reviews have been from Hampden Estate, Jamaica.
Anyway back to Guyana we are. This is another Single Cask and Cask Strength rum from Kill Devil. Kill Devil for those who aren’t in the know is the rum branch of Hunter Laing, who are more famous for their independent whisky bottlings.
