Mezan are an independent bottler from the UK. They have featured quite regularly on this site and this is the second Jamaica Rum from Mezan we have reviewed.
Mezan Jamaica XO is, unlike all the other Mezan rums a blend rather than a Single Barrel/Cask offering. Not only is it a blend of rums it is also a blend of rums from different distilleries.

Stiggins’ Fancy 1824 Recipe Pineapple Rum has finally hit UK shores. Plantation the makers of this rum have certainly created a real buzz around this and the sole current stockist of this rum have been overwhelmed with demand for this product.
Rum brand Plantation is owned by Maison/Cognac Ferrand and whilst they may not be quite in the same league as industry giants Bacardi International and Diageo they certainly know how to market their Plantation line of rums.
Ron Cubay in case anyone is any doubt, is a rum from Cuba. Cuban rum has become even hotter property recently as news that the US of A will soon be getting stocks of what, until very recently has been forbidden fruit for our friends over the pond.
Forget about the pointless rangling over the Havana Club brand by Havana Club and Bacardi International, as here we have one of the more domesticated Cuban rums.
Kill Devil is an old fashioned term for rum but this is a very new rum brand. Coming from independent whisky bottler Hunter-Laing. I came across these distinctive bottlings for the first time on a German website 4finespirits. I was interested in trying them but importing spirits into the UK can be a bit of minefield (the German’s also have a different rate of VAT which further complicates things) so I passed over buying them straight away.
Over the past few years, the demand for rum, whiskies and other fine spirits has increased considerably, with many people now choosing to buy and sell their bottles at auction as an alternative to using specialist retailers.
www.whisky.auction is a new site that aims to simplify the auction process for many. The latest auction from Whisky Auction has many rare and old bottles of rum up for sale.
Fate is a funny thing and certainly not something anyone should take for granted. As a rum blogger (I hate that term) based in the North East of England rum “events” don’t come along very often.
I had originally planned to make my first public appearance as “thefatrumpirate” back in October 2015 at the London Rumfest. However the news that I was to become a father meant such shenanigans were put on hold.
