Kintra Hampden Jamaica 8 Year Old. Kintra are a relatively new European Independent bottler. They began as so many do by bottling whiskies before moving, more recently onto rums.
Kintra hail from the Netherlands (which will be handy for the huge rum broker E.A Scheer). Most of their sales are racked up there. They also export to most of mainland Europe, Hong Kong and Japan.
Worthy Park Single Estate Reserve. I’ve been waiting quite a while for this one. I’m a big fan of Worthy Park’s Rum-Bar range. Which include a White Overproof, a Gold rum and a very tasty Rum Cream.
Over the past couple of years Independent bottlers have been releasing quite a lot of rums from Worthy Park. In the main these have been Single Barrel bottlings that were mainly aged in a European climate. They were sold young by Worthy Park.
Kill Devil Jamaica Hampden Distillery. Hampden Distillery as is the trend in Jamaica is better known as Hampden Estate. This is largely because these distilleries did/do produce their own sugar cane on their vast estates. So they are not just simply a distillery.
Kill Devil have featured quite prominently on the site over the past two years. They began issuing 46% ABV single cask spirits in a similar fashion to bottlers such as Cadenhead’s and Samaroli. Like Cadenheads Kill Devil have now moved into Cask Strength bottlings.
Rum Coruba or Coruba Rum depending on which bottlings you are looking at, are a Jamaican rum brand. Rum Coruba 18 Years Old hails from the Appleton Estate.
Information on the brand, though reasonably plentiful is often contradictory and as a result quite unreliable. If during the course of this review I do get anything wrong please let me know. I have tried to use the most reliable looking information I could trace. At times it is as if there are two different brands with the same name.
Another Habitation Velier Hampden release. This time out its a three way collaboration which has brought this particular rum into existence. HLCF/LROK is a blend of two Hampden expressions which have both been issued individually HLCF (Hampden Light Continental Flavoured) and LROK (Light Rum Owen Kelly).
Coruba White Rum. They are a brand of rum with mixed origins. Coruba Dark is popular and widely available in the US and New Zealand. Coruba are a Jamaican rum brand (the rum used is understood to come from Appleton Estate).
The brand itself also seems to have some Swiss roots. It is for the US market owned by Campari. Coruba have a number of young “mixing” style rums in their portfolio. They have also branched out into the cheaper flavoured market.
Arnisser No7 Jamaica Rum is an independently bottled rum from Worthy Park Distillery. Arnisser hails from Germany (I think) and they have their own website.
They have bottled a number of rums as well as their own Gin and Brandy. They bottle their rum in 200ml and 500ml bottles. This 6 Year Old rum from Worthy Park was distilled in 2010. Retail price for a 500ml bottle is 26 euros. Which is very competitive. I like the idea of the 200ml bottles as well. That is a good amount of rum to try and the price is also very keen.
