Don Q Cristal Rum Review by the fat rum pirateDon Q Cristal is the brands entry level white rum.  Don Q hail from Puerto Rico like Bacardi.  Like Bacardi they also distill their rums using column distillation.  Unlike Bacardi they are quite well thought of particularly in their native country.

Around 18 months ago Don Q had a major re-brand and began marketing and distributing their rums to wider global audience.  Don Q’s range is now readily available in the UK through mail order and sprinkling of stores.  I’ve previously reviewed their “dark” rum range but never quite got around to writing about the Cristal. Rum Artesenal Guyana Rum Enmore

rum artesenal guyana review by the fat rum pirateRum Artesenal are a small Independent bottler from Germany.  They have bottled a number of rums from various sources over the past couple of years.

Unfortunately due to the size of the operation and the language barrier, I have been unable to find any other information on them.

Cacique 500 Extra Anejo Gran Reserva

Cacique 500 Gran Anejo Rum Review by the fat rum pirateCacique is a rum brand from Venezuela. Home of Pampero and Santa Teresa.  Produced by Destilerias Unidas S.A,  (DUSA).  The distillery best known for arguably the most recognisable Venezeulan rum brand – Diplomatico.  The brand is now owned by industry giant Diageo.  Quite what relevance Cacique 500 has I’ve been unable to find out? HSE Black Sheriff

HSE Habitation Saint Etienne Black Sherrif Rum Review by the fat rum pirateHSE or Habitation Saint Etienne are an agricole rhum distiller based on the French speaking island of Martinque.

Habitation Saint Etienne was modelled after “La Maugée”, a sugar refinery covering over 400 hectares from Gros Morne to Saint Joseph in the early 19th century.

In 1909, the property came into the possession of the Simonnet family who developed the distillery activity until its decline at the end of the 1980s. The estate was taken over in 1994 by Yves and José Hayot, who relaunched the Saint-Etienne brand. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Tiki Lovers Dark Rum

Tiki Lovers Dark Rum Review by the fat rum pirateTiki Lovers have a small range of rums which are designed for “Tiki Drinks”.  This is Tiki Lovers Dark Rum – Finest Caribbean Blend.

Cane Island Trinidad Aged 8 Years

CANE ISLAND TRINIDAD agedc 8 years rum review by the fat rum pirateCane Island are a new Independent bottler.  We have already covered their 8 Year Old Barbados rum – a rather good one from Foursquare.

Up next is an 8 Year Old from Trinidad.  Which means it is to young to come from the the now defunct and much heralded Caroni distillery.  Leaving us with the only remaining option on Trinidad – Angostura. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Jefferson’s Very Rare 24 Year Old Rum

Jefferson's Rare 24 Year Old RumJefferson’s Very Rare 24 year Old Rum is the second release from “The Rum Story” visitor attraction, based in Whitehaven, Cumbria, North West England.
