S.B.S – The 1423 Single Barrel Selection Antigua 2015. Continuing the theme of recent reviews of Independent Bottlers (IB’s), today we are reviewing a rum from Danish bottlers/brand owners/distributors 1423.
In the UK we are fortunate to receive a very healthy number of products from 1423, as the chaps over at Skylark Spirits have taken over distribution of their products.
Samaroli Barbados Rum Distilled in 2010 TWB Exclusive 15th Anniversary. It’s probably worth me noting at this point that this is a rum from the Foursquare Distillery.
I dare say I probably don’t have to elaborate any further on the subject of Foursquare. If anyone reading this is wondering why, then please type Foursquare into the search function on the site…..All should become quite clear.
Dràm Mòr Single Cask Rum Uitvulgt Distillery Aged 24 Years. We are back today with what I think is the second Guyanese rum I have tried from Dràm Mòr Group. This time we are stepping back in time and enjoying a rum from a now defunct distillery – Uitvlugt.
Whilst the Uitvlugt distillery has long been mothballed a couple of the stills housed there, are now at Diamond Distillery/Demerara Distillers Limited. This particular bottling is noted as having the marque MPMM. Which suggests heavily that this a rum produced on the Port Mourant Double Wooden Pot Still.
Foursquare LFT White Barbados Pure Single Rum. Whilst it is fair to say, all releases from Foursquare Rum Distillery are very sought after this is perhaps one of the most anticipated releases of 2022.
It’s not out yet (I’m just lucky enough to have been sent a very generous sample) so I can’t advise on the bottle numbers or the price. It is going to be released as part of the Habitation Velier series of rums.
Black Tot Master Blender’s Reserve Rum 2022. What better way to celebrate (do we celebrate the event – I suppose in the name of Health and Safety perhaps we do….) Black Tot Day than to take another walk down memory lane with Master Blender Oliver Chilton and his latest re-enactment of the traditional “British Style” Navy rum our islands fine sailors enjoyed up until 31st July 1970.
1968 Portsmouth White Rum. Over the past few years a number of Rum Producers have sprung up in the UK. I’ve focused quite a bit on some of the offerings from Scotland and its outer isles.
Today I am at the other end of the UK down in Sunny Hampshire at the Portsmouth Distillery. The distillery is situated in Fort Cumberland on the South Eastern corner of Portsea Island on the shingle spit known as Eastney Point. It was built to control the entrance to Langstone Harbour to the east, and to improve the defences of Portsmouth Dockyard to the west. It now houses the Portsmouth Distillery and visitor centre.
Distilia Chaconia 24 YO Distilled at Caroni Distillery. This bottling opens Distilia’s “Floral Rum Series”, which helps explain the presentation.
Distilia was set up by Spirits Afficionado’s Jakub Baginiski and Piotr Kossowski, initially they released long aged whisky from Karuizawa, Glenfarcas and Clynelish amongst others.
