Bedford Park Jamaican Distillery 2000. Today we are trying a rum from yet another Scottish Independent bottler- Bedford Park. An offshoot of North Point Distillery who produce their own Spiced and “Regular” rum. I have heard of them and will likely be reviewing their Pilot rum soon.
Don Papa Rum Sherry Casks. I’ve not reviewed any Don Papa products for a while. They aren’t a brand that I would ever buy if I’m being honest.
So when it comes to getting reviews of Don Papa, I am often relying on my friends in rum circles being gifted well meaning but sadly misguided bottles which they then “invite” me to sample and review………..
El Dorado Aged 12 Years Finest Demerara Rum. It has been quite a while since I last reviewed any of the rums from El Dorado’s “core” range.
Since then there have been revelations that they age their rum in barrels which have been coated in caramel. Rather than “adding sugar” post distillation. Whether this is true or not I’m not entirely sure. They seem to have miraculously managed to produce their 12, 15 and 21 year old rums without any interruption, with considerably less “additives” since the EU 20g/L limit was imposed…….not sure how they could have uncoated so many barrels?
Cargo Cult Navy Strength Rum. Cargo Cult Navy Strength Rum. I last reviewed an offering from the Cargo Cult stable way back in 2018.
At the time it was their only rum on the market. It was heralded as a “sugar free” Dry Spiced Rum. Fast forward to 2024 and they have a Banana flavoured rum but they have also released their first “straight” rum. This Navy Strength offering which I am reviewing today.
Dead Reckoning Barbados PX. We continue our recent reviews of Independent bottlers with a review from the other side of the world. Today we have a rum from Aussie bottlers Dead Reckoning. I’ve covered quite a few of their releases over the past few years.
The bottling I have in my hands today is a Barbados rum. A mix of Pot and Column distilled rum from……..you guessed it Foursquare Rum Distillery. Without doubt the “hottest” rum distillery around at the moment.

Dràm Mòr Single Cask Rum Secret Fiji Distillery Aged 8 Years. We return today with another review from Scottish Independent bottler Dràm Mòr. We are taking a visit to a (not so) Secret Distillery on Fiji.
Quite why the distillery insists on their rums being marked as “Secret” when bottled by Independents is beyond me. The South Pacific Rum Distillery is the only operational distillery on the Island, that I am aware of. Certainly the only one that has stocks of rum in Europe.
