That Boutique-y Cachaca Company Novo Fogo 3 Year Old. That Boutique-y Rum Company has re-named itself for this release. To reflect the fact that this is their first Independent bottling of cachaça. Well done to them we are on of the very few rum websites that have been really banging the drum for cachaça recently and will continue to do so!

Velho Alambique Cabreuva. We have covered Velho Alambique’s cachaça previously on the site. I reviewed the brands Ouro cachaça which was aged in a blend of native Brasilian woods and American oak. For more information the review is here.
This particular cachaça is noted as being in Cabreuva. Which is the name of a tree which is commonly found in Central and South America. The Cabrueva tree has also given its name to a city in Brasil.
Novo Fogo Tanager. We have covered the Novo Fogo brand previously, when we reviewed their Barrel Aged Cachaca expression. They are a brand expanding rapidly and alongside the likes of Leblon, Avua and Sagatiba, are looking to push a more stylised version of cachaça into the US and European market.
Cachaca Indaiazinha. Today I continue my Cachaca journey with another cachaça from Salinas, Minas Gerais. For many the mecca of good artisanal cachaça. Once again we are looking at a spirit which in terms of presentation, seems quite “basic” and unspectacular.
This cachaça is very much in the same vein as Havana Aniso Santiago and Pirigibana. Long standing and well respected cachaça, much like Mount Gay XO or R.L Seale’s 10 Year Old from Barbadoas or Appleton 12 Year Old for a Jamaican standard, equivalent in the rum world.
Reserva 51 Unica Extra Premium American Oak. Cachaca 51 are the market leaders of cachaça in Brasil (so you might as well say the world). Their standard Prata and Ouro cachaca’s are readily available, in Europe and the UK. I think they also may export to the US.
The Reserva 51 range is the companies more premium offerings. They have 3 cachacas in this series. They have this Reserva 51 Unica (aged in ex-bourbon casks), Reserva 51 Singular (ex-bourbon and Amburana wood) and a Reserva 51 Rara (ex-bourbon and ex-South American Wine Barrels). At the very top of the range they have a Reserva 51 Carvalho Americano (ex-bourbon)
Ypioca Cinco Chaves. People in the UK may be familiar with the Ypioca brand. In time for the 2014 World Cup in Brasil, Sainsburys one of the countries leading supermarkets decided to stock some Brasillian Cachaca.
Their choice was Ypioca Prata – a white unaged cachaça, which comes in a weave covered bottle (similar to the old Zacapa bottlings) with a funny old man on the front.
