Sapucaia Real 18 Years Cachaca review by the fat rum pirateSapucaia Real 18 Years. Sapucaia is a brand of cachaça from Pindamonhangaba, Sao Paolo state. The Sapucaia brand began way back in 1933 on the Sapucaia and Coruputuba farms. The farms were run by local entrepreneur Cicero da Silva Prado.

The Salinas MG part relates to the city of Salinas in Minas Gerais State in South Eastern Brasil. Salinas an Minas Gerais are as synonymous the good cachaça as Jamaica and Barbados are with good rum.

So it is no surprise the Cachaca Bandarra note where their cachaça is from prominently. The journey of Cachaca Bandarra began in 1997 when entrepreneur Elber Sales, read a report where the Brasillian government where offering financial incentives for those willing to produce and export Cachaca outside of Brasil. Cachaca Tie are a relatively small producer by Cachaca standards with approximately 35,000 litres of Cachaca produced per year.

To date, they have over 100 national and international awards. Products from the H.Weber distillery are available in 19 countries.

One of the reasons I first began exploring Cachaça was due to a chance meeting with Leszek Wedzicha, who was working at Bristol Rum Festival last summer. Leszek was promoting the Weber Haus line up of Cachaça. I was very impressed. Prior to this I had not tried any aged Cachaça. I have stayed in contact with Leszek ever since. Earlier this year I attended the Manchester Cachaça festival and tried a great many more Cachaça’s.
