This is a Jamaican Rum from Worthy Park – hence the JMWP (JaMaica Worthy Park). Worthy Park only re-opened and began distilling rum again in 2005 so this is a bottling which comes from their first year of production.
Cadenhead’s have been bottling rum for quite some time now. They release a number of rums at 46% ABV as part of their Green Label series. For the more serious rum drinker they also have their Cask Strength Dated Distillation series. Which this bottlings is a part of.
Duncan Taylor are a Whisky and Rum bottler from Aberdeen, Scotland. They have been selling their rums in distinctive flask style bottles for a number of years now.
Like another Independent bottler, Mezan they keep a very similar presentation for each rum. With them releasing so many rums, some differing only by a cask number it can make deciding on what to buy quite tricky!
Tiki Lovers have a small range of rums which are designed for “Tiki Drinks”. This is Tiki Lovers Dark Rum – Finest Caribbean Blend.
Tiki Lovers rums are produced and bottled for Haromex Limited who also responsible for distributing and importing brands such as Pusser’s, English Harbour and Hampden Estate to the UK. This, if you like, is their own brand bottling.
Blackadder let’
s be honest about things. It’s in your head and in its my head. No doubt it gets into the head of everyone who ever buys a Blackadder Whisky or Rum and is familiar with BBC comedy.
I don’t even know whether there is any connection between the Rowan Atkinson series and this Independent bottler. Appearance wise I am certainly getting a feel of “The Black Adder” which was the first (very different) series of the popular comedy. My recollections come mainly from the 2nd and 3rd incarnations. And yes that bloody ludicrous folky theme tune………
When Appleton Estate re-branded their rums in 2015 much was made of the move. The usual conspiracists hailed the blends must have all changed and been down graded.
To be honest this is a familiar and very boring critique which is immediately “asked” everytime a producer decides to re-brand. I found it particularly sad that a brand such as Appleton Estate would also be treat with such suspicion.
Another release
from Habitation Velier. This time we are seeing Velier partnering up with Worthy Park Estate in Jamaica for this release.
First up I will help with the title for this rum. Fortunately as well as providing us with a rather confusing and slightly obscure title, Velier have also provided us with extensive notes on the production and origin of this rum.
Smooth Ambler Revelation Rum hails from Greenbrier Country, West Virginia via Jamaica. Smooth Ambler Spirits both distill and independently bottle older spirits when they see a suitable opportunity.
Revelation Rum is an example of when an older rare spirit or spirits have become available. They are most famous for their range of Old Scout whiskies. This is the first rum they have bottled.
