John Frum’s Cargo Cult Spiced Rum. This is a Spiced Rum which has been making a few waves in the UK. This is partly due to it being available in Marks and Spencer. It is also available at the travelling “The Rum Festival” events – where it is proving very popular with consumers.

Cadenhead’s FSPD is another Cask Strength bottling from in their Dated Distillation range. This time hailing from the South Pacific Distillery, Fiji.
To date I haven’t tried a lot of rum from Fiji. The only Fijian rum reviewed thus far have been Independently bottled from Berrys’ and Ultimatum. The Berrys’ rum was considerably younger than this one at only 8 years old. The Ultimatum more similar in terms of age, at 12 years old.
Ultimatum Rum Fiji Secret Distillery is not quite as mysterious as it sounds. There is currently only one working commercial distillery on Fiji. So its not really much of a secret.
Rums from Fiji have been popping up all over the place over the past year. Many independent bottlers have been picking up and releasing Fijian rums. The distillery is actually the South Pacific Rum distillery.
A step into the familiar Berrys’ or Berry’s Bros & Rudd, alongside the unfamiliar in a Fijian rum. Quite what to expect from an 8 Year Old Fijian rum I am not sure.
As it is coming from a well respected Independent bottler it should at the very least be an authentic style of rum so it should have some redeeming features.
