Duncan Taylor Uitvlugt 1998 Single Cask Rum

Duncan Duncan Taylor Rum Guyana Uitvlugt review by the fat rum pirateTaylor are an Independent bottler of whisky and rum from Scotland.  This is a Uitvlugt Demerara rum.  Uitvlugt is the name of a now defunct distillery. Some of the stills from this distillery are now housed at Demerara Distillers Limited or the Diamond Distillery if you prefer.

It is becoming increasingly difficult to determine the exact origin of all the Independently bottled Demerara/Guyana rums.  Not only are bottlers using non-standard terms. Some are using the old Distillery names, some the stills and others are just stating Diamond Distillery. There is also an issue with where the stills on which these rums were at the time of bottling. This is particularly confusing the older the rums are. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Red Bonny Dark Rum

Red Bonny Dark Rum Review by the fat rum pirateRed Bonny Dark Rum a rum which has been on my rader for quite some time.  I did expect to pick it up at a bit of discount at some point but that just never materialised.

Costing around £23 for a 70cl bottle with an ABV of 40% this is not a terribly expensive rum.  It has surprisingly held a very rigid price online.  I fully expected one of the larger supermarkets to stock this rum at some point but this doesn’t look like it is going to happen either! Compagnie des Indes Guyana 13 Year Old

Compagnie Des Indes Guyana 13 rum review by the fat rum pirateCompagnie des Indes (French East India Company) are a relative newcomer to the Independent bottling scene.  They have however, released a frightening amount of rums over the past 2 years.  The brainchild of Florent Beuchet who has a long history in the Drinks Industry having been the brand manager for Banks Rum and also helping his father run a small absinthe distillery in his native France. Whisky Broker – Rum Distilled at Diamond Distillery Guyana Aged 12 Years

Whisky Broker Whiskybroker Demerara Rum 12 years review by the fat rum pirateA Demerara rum from Whiskybroker.  Whisky Broker seem to be a company that goes down the Ronseal route of promotion by doing “Exactly what it says on the tin”. So apologies for the slightly long title for this particular review.  They have declined to give their first rum bottling a snappier title. Bristol Classic Rum Port Morant 1999 (bottled 2015)

Bristol Port Mortant 1999 rum review by the fat rum pirateUp for review is a Port Morant rum from the Diamond Distillery by Bristol Classic Rum.

Bristol Classic Rum have over the years released a number of editions of Port Mo(u)rant rums.  All releases seemed to stem from a stock of rum dating from 1990 and 1999.

To date I have reviewed a number of Bristol’s rums and those have included two Port Mo(u)rants from the 1990 stock.  To even things up I have also acquired some of the 1999 stock. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating
