World’s End Rum – Dark Spiced

worlds-end-spiced-rum-dark-2World’s End Rum Dark Spiced.  Now if I was going from name alone I would assume that this Belgian Spiced Rum was after some of the Kraken’s market share.  Perhaps another a Black Magic style knock off?

Well yes and no.  For a start the rum certainly is like the Kraken – dark and indeed spiced.  However, the presentation does not seek to mimic the Kraken.  Even the illustrious Captain Morgan tried a similar knock off bottle for their Dark Spiced concoction. Smooth Ambler Revelation Rum Review by the fat rum pirateSmooth Ambler Revelation Rum hails from Greenbrier Country, West Virginia via Jamaica.  Smooth Ambler Spirits both distill and independently bottle older spirits when they see a suitable opportunity.

Ron Barcelo Imperial rum Review by the fat rum pirateBarceló are on of the big three named rum producers of the Dominican Republic.  I say named because Oliver & Oliver another big Dominican rum player produce a variety of rums under various different guises.

In 1929 Spaniard Julián Barceló arrived in Santo Domingo and founded Barceló & Co. In 1974, Don Julián Barceló handed over the reins to his nephew Miguel Barceló and in 1980 Ron Barceló Imperial was born. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Dead Man’s Fingers – Spiced Rum

dead-mans-fingers-rum-3Dead Man’s Fingers is a Spiced Rum.  First released in 2015 by The Rum and Crab Shack, St Ives, Cornwall.  Initially the rum was only available in the bar/restaurant (which has since expanded to another branch in Exeter).  It is now pushing for a national release and is already available from a number of UK online retailers. Kill Devil Trinidad 2003 – 13 Year Old

Kill Devil Trinidad 2003 rum review by the fat rum pirateAnother independent bottling from Kill Devil.  This time we are taking a trip to Trinidad.  This rum is one of the first releases by Kill Devil to be released at Cask Strength.

As the rum is bottled at Cask Strength the packaging has been tweaked slightly.  The lozenge label on the tube and on the bottle are red/purple in colour rather than gold as on the 46% ABV rums. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating
