Taylor are an Independent bottler of whisky and rum from Scotland. This is a Uitvlugt Demerara rum. Uitvlugt is the name of a now defunct distillery. Some of the stills from this distillery are now housed at Demerara Distillers Limited or the Diamond Distillery if you prefer.
It is becoming increasingly difficult to determine the exact origin of all the Independently bottled Demerara/Guyana rums. Not only are bottlers using non-standard terms. Some are using the old Distillery names, some the stills and others are just stating Diamond Distillery. There is also an issue with where the stills on which these rums were at the time of bottling. This is particularly confusing the older the rums are.
Duncan Taylor are a Whisky and Rum bottler from Aberdeen, Scotland. They have been selling their rums in distinctive flask style bottles for a number of years now.
Duncan Taylor are primarily an Independent Scotch Whisky bottler, whom like Wm Cadenhead also dip their toes in the rum market.
Foursquare Indelible. I’m just about over the fact Foursquare are not going to return to the “Foursquare Rum Distillery” moniker on their bottles. It saddens me a little. I kind of liked “ye days of olde”, when the bottles looked a bit more home made, a bit less uniform and of course lot less expensive…….
S.M.W.S Cask No R11.11 Pushing the Frontiers of Funk. You can always rely on the S.M.W.S (Scotch Malt Whisky Society) to give their rums an interesting name. It’s quite common within the Scotch Whisky world in general, to find more detailed or more “floral” descriptions, than you might find in the Rum scene.
Jamaican Rum JHK Thompson Bros. Independent Whisky Bottlers have a long tradition of putting out some rather decent rum over the years. In fact quite a few of the most respected “Independent Bottlers” of rum are primarily Whisky bottlers.
