Diplomatico Distillery Collection No1 Batch Kettle Rum

DIplomatico Distillery Collection No1 Batch Kettle Rum Review by the fat rum pirateDiplomatico Distillery Collection No1 Batch Kettle Rum. Diplomatico were a few years ago synonymous with what was seen as good “sipping” rum. They are still highly regarded in some circles and their Reserva Exclusive still regularly features in top ten rum lists.

Unfortunately much like Zacapa their over reliance on additives and the publicising of such tests has clipped the wings of the brand – but only very slightly. The brand to their credit are beginning to give details of added sugar on their bottles. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Pampero Ron Anejo Blanco

Pampero Blanco Rum Review by the fat rum piratePampero Blanco along with the others rum in the producers range have recently had a makeover.  Makeovers in rum seem frequent.  Although this blog has only been running since 2014 you will already notice that a number of bottles reviewed have since had their packaging changed.

In this instance the makeover is more of an update really.  Giving the rums a more modern feel.  For Pampero Blanco the company have opted to move the rum from a tall bar style bottle into a shorter, rounder stubbier bottle. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Diplomatico Mantuano

Diplomatico Botucal Mantuano Rum Review by the fat rum pirateDiplomatico (or Botucal in Germany) Mantuano – meaning nobleman and also a cocoa producing town in Venezeula.  Which is where Diplomatico rums are produced.

Diplomatico Mantuano was showcased at the London Rumfest in October 2016.  It is a direct replacement for the companies Reserva rum.  It has retained the orange parts of that rums colour scheme and the ornate rounded stubby bottle.  I always feel these bottles look smaller than most 70cl bottles.  Clearly this is an optical illusion as they hold the same amount of liquor. Diplomatico Ambassador

Diplomatico Ambassador rum review by the fat rum pirateDiplomatico Ambassador was launched in London, England in 2011.  It is currently the most expensive of the various rums available under the Diplomatico brand.

Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva is regularly cited as being one of the best rums in the world.  In all fairness it isn’t really but what it does offer is a soft, easy and very sugary entry into “sipping rums”. Having said that many will stay loyal to rums such as Diplomatico. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating
