Diplomatico Planas. This is a white rum from the famous Venezuelan rum brand Diplomatico. Most wll known, without doubt for their Reserva Exclusiva. In a slightly different rum world to the one we know today,seen as one of the world’s best. In some circles, it perhaps still is.
For many rm enthusiasts though the Diplomatico name is synonymous with “added sugar”. The popularity of the Reserva Exclusiva was due too its smooth and sweet profile. Prior to any reliable testing being carried out, this was thought to be down to some exquisite blending techniques, that others simply could not replicate.
Diplomatico Distillery Collection No1 Batch Kettle Rum. Diplomatico were a few years ago synonymous with what was seen as good “sipping” rum. They are still highly regarded in some circles and their Reserva Exclusive still regularly features in top ten rum lists.
Pampero Blanco along with the others rum in the producers range have recently had a makeover. Makeovers in rum seem frequent. Although this blog has only been running since 2014 you will already notice that a number of bottles reviewed have since had their packaging changed.
Diplomatico (or Botucal in Germany) Mantuano – meaning nobleman and also a cocoa producing town in Venezeula. Which is where Diplomatico rums are produced.
Cacique is a rum brand from Venezuela. Home of Pampero and Santa Teresa. Produced by Destilerias Unidas S.A, (DUSA). The distillery best known for arguably the most recognisable Venezeulan rum brand – Diplomatico. The brand is now owned by industry giant Diageo. Quite what relevance Cacique 500 has I’ve been unable to find out? I guess it might be some kind of anniversary, perhaps.
Santa Teresa Linaje was released back in 2012. Whether it was a worldwide release or not I’m not entirely sure.
A 2001 single vintage from Diplomatico who should need little or no introduction. Their Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva is regularly cited as one of the worlds greatest rums. For many rum lovers their rums are staples in their rum cabinets.
