Iceberg Gold Rum

imageIceberg is a rum which hails from Canada.  Well the brand does anyway, unsurprisingly the actual rum in the bottle is not Canadian.

It is in fact a Demerara rum which is blended with “12,000 year old Iceberg water”.  Yeah okay anything you say!  It is bottled by the Canadian Iceberg Vodka Company.  It has made its way into my home here in the UK via Vikingstad in Norway where AST import it from Canada. Flor de Cana 5 Anejo Clasico

Flor de Cana 5 Anejo Clasico Rum review by the fat rum pirateUp for review is another rum from the Flor de Cana range from Nicaragua.  It has taken a while for me to review many of the Flor de Cana rums, as I was disappointed with my experience when I bought the Centenario 12. This is the Flor de Cana 5 – Anejo Clasico.

The increase in decent rum on our supermarket shelves gave me an easy opportunity to pick up this gold rum from their line up. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

El Dorado Rare Collection – Versailles 2002

El Dorado Versailles Rare Collection rum review by the fat rum pirateEariler this year Demerara Distillers Limited announced some new rums in their El Dorado range.  Limited edition releases of rums from single stills. This one is from the Versailles (VSG) still.

Jefferson’s 1785 Extra Fine Dark Rum

Jefferson's 1785 Dark Rum review by the fat rum pirateThe Jefferson family have a long and rich history in the rum world.  They were one of the first families to import sugar (and subsequently rum) to UK shores.  The family is preserved in history at the Rum Story attraction in Whitehaven, Cumbria.

I will spare you the history lesson and instead direct you to their website. I will instead focus on the rum under review rather than too much of the families history. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Mezan Jamaica XO

Mezan Jamaica XO Rum Review by the Fat Rum PirateMezan are an independent bottler from the UK.  They have featured quite regularly on this site and this is the second Jamaica Rum from Mezan we have reviewed.

Mezan Jamaica XO is, unlike all the other Mezan rums a blend rather than a Single Barrel/Cask offering.  Not only is it a blend of rums it is also a blend of rums from different distilleries. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating
