Spice Hunter Boldest Spiced Rum

Spice Hunter Boldest Spiced Rum Review by the fat rum pirateSpice Hunter Boldest Spiced Rum. I’ve seen spiced rum described in many different ways but I’ve never heard anyone claim their spiced rum is the boldest before.

Not many spiced rums claim to add 13 different spices to the rum. Which is why as their website informs us – they have decided to call it “Boldest Spiced Rum”. They think it is a very bold move to infuse so many spiced into their rum. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

S.B.S – The 1423 Single Barrel Selection Mauritius 2008

S.B.S - The 1423 Single Barrel Selection Mauritius 2008 Rum Review by the fat rum pirateS.B.S. – The 1423 Single Barrel Selection Mauritius 2008. 1423 have been releasing a varied selection of single cask rums over the past couple of years. They haven’t stuck rigidly to the likes of Guyana, Jamaica and Barbados.

We have featured a few rums from Mauritius over the past few years. Most of those have been from the Medine Distillery. This particular bottling, is however from another distillery on the island. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Kill Devil Hampden Distillery Jamaica Aged 35 Years

Kill Devil Hampden Distillery Jamaica Aged 35 Years Rum review by the fat rum pirateKill Devil Hampden Distillery Jamaica Aged 35 Years. Another bottling of Jamaican rum from Kill Devil but this time you can find this particular bottling at a few different online outlets as it isn’t a Whisky Barrel exclusive. Though you can still buy it from them should you wish.

As you can see from the photo the presentation for this one strays from the usual Kill Devil bottle and presentation tube. It perhaps might not surprise you, bearing in mind the age of the spirit in the bottle that the pricing is also significantly different. The most expensive Hampden from Kill Devil before this bottling was £200 for a 24-year-old rum. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

That Boutique-y Rum Company Secret Distillery #1 Jamaica

That Boutique-y Rum Company Secret Distillery #1 JamaicaThat Boutique-y Rum Company Secret Distillery #1 Jamaica. A release from a “Secret Distillery” in Jamaica sounds fantastic doesn’t it? Just imagine that The Boutique-y Rum Company have access to an as yet unknown Jamaican rum distillery. Is this a new start up or is it a tiny distiller who has been making their own moonshine for centuries? Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

S.B.S – The 1423 Single Barrel Selection Venezuela 2006

S.B.S - The 1423 Single Barrel Selection Venezuela 2006 rum review by the fat rum pirate. Another bottling from our Danish Friends 1423. This time I’m trying some single cask rum from Venezuela. I don’t think I have covered much cask strength Venezuelan rum over the years. I’ve extensively covered the more commercial Diageo puts out such as Cacique and Pampero.

I have also, of course reviewed the various Diplomatico offerings and Santa Teresa. It’s been a bit of a mixed bag. I don’t mind some of the younger rums for mixing and the some of the aged rum Santa Teresa 1796 and Pampero Anniversario Reserva Exclusiva I thoroughly enjoyed – and still do. Plantation XO Barbados 20th Anniversary

Plantation XO Barbados 20th Anniversay Rum Review by the fat rum piratePlantation XO Barbados 20th Anniversary. Aside from Stiggins’ Fancy, this is perhaps Plantation’s most well-known bottling.

It is held in great regard amongst some rum lovers and treat with complete scorn by other perhaps more serious rum “enthusiasts”.

Which is probably the “camp” I will fall into. Prior to this review, I had only tried this rum “out and about” at Rum Festivals and at a Plantation tasting event. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating
