Lemon Hart 151 Premium Rum

Lemon Hart 151 the fat rum pirate rum reviewOver two centuries ago Lehmann (Lemon) Hart was named an official purveyor of rum to the British Royal Navy, subsequently establishing the Lemon Hart Rum Company in London, England, in 1804.

Whether Mr Hart ever intended a 151 Lemon Hart to become Tiki staple is improbable but this particular rum is the most iconic of Lemon’s legacy.  What is even more improbable is that the Lemon Hart Rum Company of late would be based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.  That is however what has become of the man’s legacy. El Ron Prohibido

El Ron Prohibido Habanero review by the fat rum pirateEl Ron Prohibido or Ron Habanero.  I’m really not quite sure quite how to introduce this rum.  The front of the bottle is written mostly in Spanish so that doesn’t really help.  The back of the bottle gives more clues as its all in English – Ron Prohibido is the registered Trade Mark on the back so I’ll go with that. The Duppy Share Caribbean Rum

The Duppy Share Caribbean Rum review by the fat rum pirateThe Duppies are Caribbean spirits who steal Caribbean rum hopping from island to island, keeping the best for themselves.

The Duppy Share is named after this fairy story (or the story was made for the rum I’m not sure).  It’s a twist on the Angel’s Share tale. I was initially pretty disinterested in trying this rum which was released just last year.  I read the press release and gave a little groan.  Rums blended from different sources don’t really grab my attention and I don’t tend to buy my rum based on fairy tales….. However, fair play to the team behind The Duppy Share they have certainly produced a very attractive website.  Their marketing team is also doing something right because the rum is available in a number of premium Department Stores in the UK. Inner Circle Traditional Pot Still Rum

Inner Circle Red Dot Rum review by the fat rum pirate“Red Dot” Rum is the entry-level offering from Inner Circle, who are probably Australia’s second most famous rum producers.  I cannot even bring myself to name the first….With this previous experience in Australian rum I am trying to approach this with an open mind.  However, I will confess this is proving slightly difficult. Santa Teresa 1796

Santa Teresa 1796 rum review by the fat rum pirateI’m sure anyone with a decent appreciation of rum will be able to guess why this Santa Teresa 1796 is named so.  Yes, got it in one this was the year the distillery first went into production.

This rum introduced in 1996 to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the distillery. It is bottled by C.A Ron Santa Teresa and is distributed in the UK by Coe Vintners of Essex.  The rum is bottled at 40% ABV and a 70cl bottle will set you back between £40-45. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Tiburon Rum

TIburon Rum Review by the fat rum pirateTiburon Rum is the latest release from Traveller’s Liquors of Belize.  Rum from Traveller’s Liquors is not readily available in the UK.  I have previously tried only one of Traveller’s offerings One Barrel Rum.  Which despite favourable reviews from other sites and a few “awards” was not appraised to well by myself.
