Moving with the times Elements Eight CEO Carl Stephenson decided to celebrate their 10th Anniversary with a re-boot.  Hence the re-designed “dumpy” bottles.  The logo remains but these newly designed bottles are much easier to store. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Dead Man’s Fingers – Spiced Rum

dead-mans-fingers-rum-3Dead Man’s Fingers is a Spiced Rum.  First released in 2015 by The Rum and Crab Shack, St Ives, Cornwall.  Initially the rum was only available in the bar/restaurant (which has since expanded to another branch in Exeter).  It is now pushing for a national release and is already available from a number of UK online retailers. Kill Devil Trinidad 2003 – 13 Year Old

Kill Devil Trinidad 2003 rum review by the fat rum pirateAnother independent bottling from Kill Devil.  This time we are taking a trip to Trinidad.  This rum is one of the first releases by Kill Devil to be released at Cask Strength.

As the rum is bottled at Cask Strength the packaging has been tweaked slightly.  The lozenge label on the tube and on the bottle are red/purple in colour rather than gold as on the 46% ABV rums. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Mount Gay XO – Cask Strength

Mount Gay XO Cask Strength Rum Review by the fat rum pirateMount Gay established in 1703 report that they are the oldest rum brand in existence.  Which is arguable.  What cannot be argued is that they are one of the top producers of authentic rum in the Caribbean.

Alongside Eclipse – Mount Gay Extra Old (Mount Gay XO or even MGXO) is their most recognised and most respected rum.  A blend of Pot and Column molasses it is seen as a benchmark in the birth of true sipping rums. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Bristol Classic Rum Port Morant 1999 (bottled 2015)

Bristol Classic Rum have over the years released a number of editions of Port Mo(u)rant rums.  All releases seemed to stem from a stock of rum dating from 1990 and 1999.

Kill Devil Cuba 17 Year Old 1999

kill devil cuba santci spiritus rum review by the fat rum pirateKill Devil are and ever increasing range of Independently bottled rums from Whisky bottler Hunter Laing.  Unsurprisingly perhaps Whisky based online retailers such as The Whisky Exchange and Master of Malt have been stocking their rums from the outset.
