Mount Gay Origin Series Volume 2 – The Copper Stills

Mount Gay Origins Series 2 Rum Review by the fat rum pirateReleased late in 2016 The Copper Stills is the second in the Origin Series from Bajan rum producers Mount Gay.  Origins Volume 2 focuses on the differing styles of rum produced from a traditional Pot and Column still.

A limited edition of 4800 bottles.  In this release you get two rums – both in 350ml bottles (two half bottles – you will get two 375ml in other territories).  The retail price is around £60.  The ABV for both rums is 43%  As you can see from the photos the rums come in an attractive brown presentation box, along with a series of informative cards. Mount Gay XO – Cask Strength

Due to a surge in releases and activity over the past 12-18 months.  We have featured a number of Foursquares releases.  It is likely that their key releases would have been reviewed as a matter of course, even if they weren’t as good as they are.  Had I not enjoyed them as much as I did it is unlikely we would have featured as many Independent bottlings. Compagnie des Indes – Barbados 16 Year Old

CompagniedesindesBARBADOSCompagnie des Indes are a French based Independent bottler.  This Barbados offering is aged for 16 Years.  The distillate hails from the acclaimed Foursquare Distillery in St Philip.

Compagnie des Indes (East India Company) is the brainchild of Florent Beuchet.  Florent previously worked as the US Brand Ambassador for the Joseph Banks rum brand.  You may be familiar with their 5 and 7 Island blends.  They have also released some more expensive and very limited single cask rums.
