S.B.S – The 1423 Single Barrel Selection Antigua 2015. Continuing the theme of recent reviews of Independent Bottlers (IB’s), today we are reviewing a rum from Danish bottlers/brand owners/distributors 1423.
In the UK we are fortunate to receive a very healthy number of products from 1423, as the chaps over at Skylark Spirits have taken over distribution of their products.
English Harbour Antigua Rum Port Cask Finish. English Harbour are a rum brand from Antigua, an island in the West Indies. They are pretty much famous for their signature English Harbour 5 Year Old and frankly not a lot else really.
Domestically they produce Cavalier Gold and White rum and Koko Caribe Coconut Rum. Rarely, if ever have I seen these rums for sale outside of Antigua. The rum is produced at Antigua Distillery Limited. Which is the islands only active distillery.
The Antigua Distillery Heavy Traditional Rum. This one is filed under “should have reviewed a lot earlier”. You’ll struggle to find a bottle of this on the primary market. More likely to find a bottle or two at auction or another part of the secondary market.
Quite why I didn’t review it, I’m not so sure I just never got around to it. Distracted by other offerings. A number of other reviewers did review it though and it caused a bit of a fuss as a lot of people seemed to really like it.
