Mezan are in Independent bottler from the UK. This Mezan Guyana 2005 is another rum they have been able to source from DDL.
Mezan have been offering good quality Independently bottled rums from a variety of distilleries for a good number of years now. They have offered numerous vintages and marques.
Rum Artesenal are a small Independent bottler from Germany. They have bottled a number of rums from various sources over the past couple of years.
Unfortunately due to the size of the operation and the language barrier, I have been unable to find any other information on them.
Their rums are available in Germany, Denmark and other parts of mainland Europe. I have not seen any bottlings from them in the UK.
A Demerara rum from Whiskybroker. Whisky Broker seem to be a company that goes down the Ronseal route of promotion by doing “Exactly what it says on the tin”. So apologies for the slightly long title for this particular review. They have declined to give their first rum bottling a snappier title.
The El Dorado Rare Collection will likely need little introduction. This is a rum from the Enmore EHP (Edward Henry Porter – original owner of what was the Enmore Estate) Wooden Coffey Still.
Which is one the most heralded stills in DDL’s portfolio. It is capable of producing a number of different marques of rum from light to heavy and is featured regularly in both El Dorado’s and other independently produced blends.
Velier Diamond and Port Mourant a rare “blend” of Demerara rum from the Italian super bottlers.
From the Coffey stills at DDL and the Port Mourant Double Wooden Pot Still. These rums were distilled in 1999 and blended in the barrel, before being bottled in July 2014. A total of 1,148 bottles of this rum were available. It is safe to say its pretty scarce now.
The jewel in the crown of Demerara Distillers Limited, certainly for those of modest means is the El Dorado 21 Year Old Finest Demerara rum.
The rum is made up of a blend of rums from Demerara Distillers world-famous stills, the Enmore (wooden Coffey still), the Versailles (single wooden pot still), and the Albion (Savalle still). It is worth noting that all the rums in the El Dorado range boast differing components in their blend. It is not a case of the same rum(s) being aged longer.

Bristol’s 1998 Diamond Distillery Demerara rum has got to be up there as one of the longest titles I’ve put up, but I felt all the information was valid. Over the next few months I will be putting up my usual “commercial” rum reviews alongside a number of “independent” bottlings.
