AH Riise XO Rum Review by the fat rum pirateA.H Riise XO Reserve Rum.  A highly popular rum brand particular in Denmark.  I have previously reviewed A.H Riise’s 40% Navy Rum.  In that review I gave some information regarding the brands (so called) history etc.  The review is here.

For the purpose of this review I will just focus on this bottling.  I have taken much of this information from the official website. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Foursquare Rum Distillery Principia

Foursquare Rum Distillery Principia Rum review by the fat rum pirateFoursquare Rum Distilery Principia. Finding things to say about Foursquare Distillery and Richard Seale are becoming increasingly difficult. I’m not sure how many Foursquare releases I have reviewed over the past 3 or so years. It must be over 20 easily by now.

When I first got into rum, Foursquare were a respected distillery with a long history in producing classic Bajan rums, such as R L Seale’s and Doorly’s XO. There wasn’t a great deal of change to their portfolio, year in year out. That all changed in 2015 when Richard Seale revived the Exceptional Cask Series and began working more closely with Velier’s Luca Gargano. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Velier Caroni 100% Trinidad Rum Aged 21 Years

Velier Caroni 100% Trinidad Rum Aged 21 Years Rum Review by the fat rum pirateVelier Caroni 100% Trinidad Rum Aged 21 Years. Velier have in recent years become synonymous with Caroni Trinidad Rum.

They have the largest stock of Tropically aged Caroni and have released a staggering series of rums. Which seem to have no sign of ending soon. They are more common and easier to find than the single cask releases, but they are still much sought after and may seem to some to be quite pricy. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

It seems to be a US thing.  I suppose calling it silver rum makes as much sense as calling it white.  It’s neither after all – clear rum if anything. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Havana Club Ritual Cubano

Havana Club Ritual Cubano. This Havana Club release has been around since 2012. It was created for the Spanish market. In Spain light Cuban or Latin style rum is very popular.

Cuban Rums such as Ron Varadero, Ron Caney. Legendario and Ron Mulata are popular and common place in Spain. Some of these brands are relatively unheard of in Cuba. Some aren’t even sold in Cuba. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Cor Cor Green – Okinawan Rum

Cor Cor Green Okinawan Rum Review by the fat rum pirateCor Cor Green – Okinawan Rum. Cor Cor is a relatively new rum brand from Japan.  More specifically the Japanese island of South Borodino, Minamidaito, Okinawa.  I can’t say I’m familiar with the region either.  Japanese geography isn’t my strongest subject.

The company responsible for Cor Cor Green are the Grace Rum Company Ltd, formed in 2004.  Although the company is young, the tradition of growing sugar cane on the island dates back hundreds of years. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Bacardi Reserva Limitada

Bacardi Reserva Limitada Rum Founders Reserve Rum Review by the fat rum pirateBacardi Reserva Limitada has long been Bacardi’s most “Premium” offering.  As seems to be the way with “Premium” rum producers rather than do anything remotely interesting, different or innovative they tend to just re-hash the same old thing.  Repeating the same things which initially gave them success.  Which kind of becomes a bit boring.
