Rum Nation Caroni 1999

Rum Nation Caroni 1999 Rum Review by the fat rum pirateRum Nation Caroni 1999 bottled in 2015. Rum Nation have featured a little bit more on the site recently. I’ve had a few bits and bobs from them lying around for some time now. So I thought I would re-visit some of them and finalise the reviews.

The Caroni Distillery has been closed for a good while but the number of Independently bottled rums show no sign of slowing down. Rum Nation must also be one of the Independent bottlers that have quite a stock or access to a stock of Caroni casks. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Diplomatico Distillery Collection No2 Barbet Rum

Diplomatico Distillery Collection No2 Barbet Rum Review by the fat rum pirateDiplomatico Distillery Collection No2 Barbet Rum. Late in 2017 Diplomatico released two new expressions. These expressiona are designed to highlight the different types of rum that Diplomatico can produce at their distillery.

I do feel these releases have been produced to try and appeal to those who perhaps are more critical of Diplomatico’s sweetened rums – such as the Reserva Exclusiva, Single Vintage releases and their highest priced rum the Ambassador. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Ron Cartavio XO 18 Anos

Ron Cartavio XO Rum Review by the fat rum pirateRon Cartavio XO is the top of the line for this Peruvian rum maker. It is now noted as being an 18 year old rum – it is no longer labelled as a Solera system rum. I reviewed their 12 “Year” Solera rum a while back and found it to be pretty average. Other than that my own experience of Peruvian rum has been with the frankly abominable Ron Millonario XO. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Rum Nation Ilha de Madeira – Limited Edition 2017

Rum Nation Ilha De Madeira Limited Edition 2017 review by the fat rum pirateRum Nation Ilha de Madeira. Rum Nation are an independent bottler that we have covered a couple of times already on this site. They have been operating since 1999. Besides releasing rum under the Rum Nation label they also market rums such as Ron Millonario and Reimonenq.

Rum Nation and the Portuguese island of Madeira have been in the “rum news” quite a bit lately. Over the past year rum Nation began releasing their “Rare Rums” series and the emergence of the William Hinton brand from Madeira has alerted people to “Madeira Rhum” as a thing. Worthy Park Single Estate Reserve

Worthy Park Single Estate Reserve Jamaica Rum Reivew by the fat rum pirateWorthy Park Single Estate Reserve. I’ve been waiting quite a while for this one. I’m a big fan of Worthy Park’s Rum-Bar range. Which include a White Overproof, a Gold rum and a very tasty Rum Cream.

Over the past couple of years Independent bottlers have been releasing quite a lot of rums from Worthy Park. In the main these have been Single Barrel bottlings that were mainly aged in a European climate.  They were sold young by Worthy Park. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Diplomatico Distillery Collection No1 Batch Kettle Rum

DIplomatico Distillery Collection No1 Batch Kettle Rum Review by the fat rum pirateDiplomatico Distillery Collection No1 Batch Kettle Rum. Diplomatico were a few years ago synonymous with what was seen as good “sipping” rum. They are still highly regarded in some circles and their Reserva Exclusive still regularly features in top ten rum lists.

Unfortunately much like Zacapa their over reliance on additives and the publicising of such tests has clipped the wings of the brand – but only very slightly. The brand to their credit are beginning to give details of added sugar on their bottles. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating
