With Peter that was going to make for a very long title, so instead we’ll just let Peter tell us all about his numerous roles in the UK and Global Rum Scene.

Rum Blogging – A Blogger’s Perspective. Starting this blog was one of the most challenging, yet rewarding things I have done in my adult life. The first thing which became immediately apparent to me was that my general grammar and ability to actually write something, had slipped considerably. I had after all left Full Time Education some18 years prior. It is still far from perfect!

On Saturday 23rd May from 4pm till 10pm (BST) we will be hosting two ‘festival rooms’ where presenters from many brands will be joining us for their allocated time slots to speak about their rums and then take on a Q & A segment from our guests. Some of the brands that will be joining us will include Don Q, Montanya, Rhum Damoiseau, Plantation, Ron Artesano and many more. Wester Spirit Co. have released their first white rum as a limited edition bottle to help support production of hand sanitiser for front line key workers. 3 weeks ago the distillery switched production from rum to hand sanitiser. So far Wester has donated over 700 bottles of alcohol-based hand sanitiser to front line key workers across Glasgow.
BARBADOS DISTILLERS UNITE IN PUSH FOR A GI
Mount Gay, Foursquare and Saint Nicholas Abbey have jointly agreed on a Geographical Indication for Barbados Rum as prepared by the Barbados Industrial Development Corporation (BIDC) in consultation with its legal counsel. The three distillers are the largest bottlers of Barbados Rum and together hold over 90% of the island’s aged reserves.
Rum of the Year 2019 – Winner. No doubt the brands/producers shortlisted for this most prestigious award have been waiting with baited breath for this announcement. Winning this award must truly be the pinnacle of any rum producers career. After all you get absolutely nothing other than a pat on the back from me. Not even a fancy awards ceremony to ponce around at.

It doesn’t seem all that long ago since I was sitting down to write last years shortlist. A hectic mix of small children, the day job and keeping this blog going have certainly kept me busy. I even someone managed to make a footballing comeback in the over 40’s 11 a side as well.
