Cachaca Tabua Flor de Ouro

Cachaca Tabua Flor de Ouro Rum Review by the fat rum pirateCachaca Tabua Flor de Ouro. Roughly this Cachaca translates to Gold or Golden Flower from the Portuguese. This is popular and well-respected Cachaca in its native Brasil.

It is available in a few bottle sizes most commonly a 700ml bottle will set you back around R$32 or approximately £8 in UK Sterling. As you can see from the photo Cachaca Tabua Flor de Ouro comes in a tall bar style bottle with a short neck and a metallic screw cap. The presentation isn’t as modern and slick as brands aimed at the European market such as Leblon and Yaguara but it is a bit more modern than some of the Cachaca’s available. To date, they have over 100 national and international awards. Products from the H.Weber distillery are available in 19 countries.

One of the reasons I first began exploring Cachaça was due to a chance meeting with Leszek Wedzicha, who was working at Bristol Rum Festival last summer. Leszek was promoting the Weber Haus line up of Cachaça. I was very impressed. Prior to this I had not tried any aged Cachaça. I have stayed in contact with Leszek ever since. Earlier this year I attended the Manchester Cachaça festival and tried a great many more Cachaça’s. After speaking with Leszek and other Cachaça producers and enthusiasts I decided to begin exploring Cachaça more. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Claudionor Aguardente de Cana

Claudionor Aguardente de Cana Cachaca Rum Review by the fat rum pirateClaudionor Arguardente de Cana. Not all Aguardiente de Cana is classed as Cachaca. However all Cachaca is Aguardente de Cana. Confused? Welcome to the world of sugar cane spirits.

Although Claudionor is noted as being Aguardente de Cana it can still call itself a Cachaca. The reason is pretty simple. Cachaca to be legally noted as such must only be bottled at between 38% and 48% ABV. So Claudionor just sneaks in as Cachaca. Not that worries me, as we will be branching into a few Aguardente de Cana’s and even some Mexican Charanda (Mexican rum if you like) going forward. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Tellura Amburana

Tellura Amburana Cachaca Rum review by the fat rum pirateTellura Amburana Cachaca. Tellura are a Cachaca brand from Campos de Goytacazes City, in Fazenda Abbadia, which is in Rio de Janeiro state.

They were producing sugar and Cachaca since at least the 1920’s at Abbadia Farm. However, they only recently re-introduced their Cachaca production. Which might be why their bottles are a little more contempory in the their design. More “Western-ised” perhaps. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating
