Clarendon 2007 Aged 12 Years Selected by Thompson Bros

Clarendon 2007 Aged 12 Years Selected by Thompson Bros rum review by the fat rum pirateClarendon 2007 Aged 12 Years Selected by Thompson Bros. These rather nicely presented bottlings of Independently bottled Caribbean rum, first came to my attention with another Jamaican rum. That rum was bottled exclusively for The Whisky Exchange and came from Worthy Park it was also 12 Years Old. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Royal Jamaican Rum Aged 12 Years

Royal Jamaican Rum Aged 12 Years Rum Review by the fat rum pirateRoyal Jamaican Rum Aged 12 Years. This is a rum brand from National Rums of Jamaica (NRJ) and hails from the Monymusk distillery. I have seen this brand online but have rarely seen any reviews or discussion around it.

Monymusk does rather fly under the radar a bit, when it comes to online rum discussions etc. Appleton, Hampden and Worthy Park get much more coverage when it comes to Jamaican Rum. The only review I could find on this brand from any serious writer was a 20011 review of their Gold entry level rum by Lance over at The Lone Caner. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Hampden Great House Distillery Edition

Hampden Great House Distillery Edition Rum review by the fat rum pirateHampden Great House Distillery Edition. It is always good to see producers such as Hampden putting out their own bottlings of aged rum, rather than selling bulk rum for others to profit from. It seems the distillery has grown in confidence and they now have a commercial bottling of the rum they drink on the estate. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Worthy Park Single Estate 2006 Aged 12 Years

Worthy Park Single Estate 2006 Aged 12 Years rum review by the fat rum pirateWorthy Park Single Estate 2006 Aged 12 Years. Today we have an official release from the rising stars of Jamaican rum, Worthy Park. This is their longest aged official release to date. It is taken from the second year of the revived production at the distillery.

The rum is WPL (Worthy Park Light) with an ester count between 60-119 gr/hl AA. So it’s not a huge high ester rum. To be fair that’s not what Worthy Park are about. They can leave that to the others. Their rums are very distinctive. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Worthy Park 2007 12 Year Old Thompson Brothers for TWE

Worthy Park 2007 12 Year Old Thompson Brothers for TWEWorthy Park 2007 12 Year Old Thompson Brothers for TWE. So what do we have hear then? I rather think most of that has been answered by the title of this rum. Back to Jamaica we are going (via Scotland) for another dose of Pot Still goodness from Worthy Park Distillery.

Those in the know have known about the revival of Worthy Park for a while now. Even I reviewed my first Worthy Park way back in 2015. I was also fortunate enough to be granted an interview with Zan Kong around the same time. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Plantation Jamaica 2009 Long Pond CRV – The Whisky Exchange Exclusive

Plantation Jamaica 2009 Long Pond CRV - The Whisky Exchange Exclusive Rum Review by the fat rum piratePlantation Jamaica 2009 Long Pond CRV – The Whisky Exchange Exclusive. It strikes me as quite fitting to be reviewing this rum, at this particular time. The Rum World is currently going to war. Well in parts of the Caribbean and Europe they are anyway.

Issues surrounding the Jamaica and Barbados GI’s have pretty came to a head. Even W.I.R.S.P.A. feeling the need to involve themselves. Tensions between Maison Ferrand (Plantation Rum) and other producers on the island have spilled out onto Social Media. Sides and battlelines have been drawn amongst distillers, bottlers, blenders, journalists, bloggers, enthusiasts and pretty much anyone else you can think of with an opinion on rums future. Some bridges have been burned irreparably I fear. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

That Boutique-y Rum Company Blended Rum No.1 – Jamaica 9 Year Old Batch 1

That Boutique-y Rum Company Blended Rum No.1 - Jamaica 9 Year Old Batch 1 Rum Review by the fat rum pirateThat Boutique-y Rum Company Blended Rum No.1 – Jamaica 9 Year Old Batch 1. Nice short and snappy name for this particular rum from the sesquipedalian orators That Boutique-y Rum Company. Anyway I’ll get my head out of my Thesaurus and get this particular rum reviewed.

For the purposes of brevity I think we’ll call this one Blended Rum No.1 – Jamaica 9 Year. It’s a bit less of a mouthful. The SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) might not like me not using the full title but bugger it for this review. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating
