Cane Island are a relative newcomer to the market. Last year they released a range of aged rums from Cuba, Barbados and Jamaica. These were blends of rums from two different distilleries from each location.
This year they have followed those releases up with three more rums. This time though they are all given definitive age statements on the bottles. The rums hail from Barbados, Dominican Republic and Trinidad.
Released late in 2016 The Copper Stills is the second in the Origin Series from Bajan rum producers Mount Gay. Origins Volume 2 focuses on the differing styles of rum produced from a traditional Pot and Column still.
Doorly’s is an historic Bajan rum brand now owned by Foursquare Distilery. It was the first branded rum to be exported from the island of Barbados. Bulk rum was exported in casks long before Doorly’s,
Mount Gay established in 1703 report that they are the oldest rum brand in existence. Which is arguable. What cannot be argued is that they are one of the top producers of authentic rum in the Caribbean.
Foursquare 2006. The first collaboration between Velier and Foursquare Distillery, Barbados. This will certainly not be the last. With Velier no longer issuing their acclaimed aged Demerara rums from DDL, Luca Gargano has began sourcing rum from other distilleries to release under the Velier banner.
