Don Q Signature Release Single Barrel 2005

DONQ Signature Release Single Barrel 2005 Rum Review by the fatr rum pirateDon Q Signature Release for 2016 is a Single Barrel rum from 2005.  Don Q are amongst a number of producers who are making noises about “no addtives” in their rum.  They freely invite you to test their wares as they know they have not added anything.

Despite this I still notice a lot of scepticism in the rum community concerning Don Q rums.  Much of this based on the fact they produce multi column distilled rums.  All I will say to those sceptical about their rums is try one, especially their Anejo or Gran Anejo. Kill Devil Barbados 9 Year Old

Kill Devil Barbados 2007 9 year old rum review by the fat rum pirateAnother rum from the Kill Devil Single Cask range.  This time hailing from Barbados.  This bottling is identified as being from the Foursquare Distillery.

Due to a surge in releases and activity over the past 12-18 months.  We have featured a number of Foursquares releases.  It is likely that their key releases would have been reviewed as a matter of course, even if they weren’t as good as they are.  Had I not enjoyed them as much as I did it is unlikely we would have featured as many Independent bottlings. Please note there are more to come as well. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

When released this rum retailed at around the £50 mark.  Part of the reason why it didn’t last too long on the shelves.  It is a 9 year old rum – distilled back in 2005 and bottled in September 2015.  It is from the Travellers Distillery on the Caribbean Island of Belize. Ron Barceló Anejo

Ron Barcelo Anejo rum review by the fat rum pirateBarceló are one of the “big three” Dominican rum producers along with Bermudez and Brugal.

While Brugal have made some impact in the UK – their Anejo is available in a couple of supermarkets now.  Bermudez and Barceló continue to be very popular in Spain but have made little inroad into the UK market. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Ron Cubay Anejo

Ron Cubay Anejo rum review by the fat rum pirateRon Cubay Anejo is a Cuban rum.  In 1964 Ron Cubay was founded in Santo Domingo, Villa Clara. Ron Cubay rums are produced by Cuba Ron S.A which also produce Havana Club. The Ron Cubay brand was only ever intended for domestic consumption, hence the reason that we are only just seeing it in the UK with it only having a presence in Europe since around 2010.
