St Abbs Captain’s Table XO comes from newcomers Black Mountain Spirits. They have three rums in the St Abbs range. St Abbs is the brain child of entrepeneur David Owens. David has a recent history in the rum world. He was involved in Takamaka (formerly Takamaka Bay) rum which hailed from the Seychelles.

This is a Jamaican Rum from Worthy Park – hence the JMWP (JaMaica Worthy Park). Worthy Park only re-opened and began distilling rum again in 2005 so this is a bottling which comes from their first year of production.
Cadenhead’s have been bottling rum for quite some time now. They release a number of rums at 46% ABV as part of their Green Label series. For the more serious rum drinker they also have their Cask Strength Dated Distillation series. Which this bottlings is a part of.
Ultimatum Rum Fiji Secret Distillery is not quite as mysterious as it sounds. There is currently only one working commercial distillery on Fiji. So its not really much of a secret.

Skotlander Handcrafted Rum V 1,400 SØMIL is perhaps the most bizarrely named rum I have reviewed so far. The strange name owes mostly to the way it has been aged. When translated into English and the story is told it does make a lot more sense. Even if the way the rum has been aged is a little baffling…….
Diplomatico (or Botucal in Germany) Mantuano – meaning nobleman and also a cocoa producing town in Venezeula. Which is where Diplomatico rums are produced.
Diplomatico Mantuano was showcased at the London Rumfest in October 2016. It is a direct replacement for the companies Reserva rum. It has retained the orange parts of that rums colour scheme and the ornate rounded stubby bottle. I always feel these bottles look smaller than most 70cl bottles. Clearly this is an optical illusion as they hold the same amount of liquor.
