Foursquare Rum Distillery 2005

Foursquare 2005 Rum Distillery rum review by the fat rum pirateFoursquare Rum Distillery 2005. Foursquare 2005 Completes my trio of reviews for this years “Exceptional Cask Series”. This is despite the fact the 2005 is actually the lowest numbered of this years release. Had the releases been released in order then I might have reviewed them in such a way. Instead we got them all on the same day in the UK. This left me to publish the reviews in any order I fancied. Which is exactly what I have done. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Foursquare Rum Distillery Dominus

Foursquare Rum Distillery Dominus Rum Review by the fat rum pirateFoursquare Dominus. Dominus is the Latin word for master or owner. The rum is noted as being “Master of the House” on the rear label. This convention continues the theme of similarly named rums from Foursquare such as Tryptych, Principia and Criterion. It is worth noting that such “fancy” names are quite common in the whisky world. The likes of Ardbeg are well-known for their curiously named bottlings. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

1931 St Lucia Distillers – 6th Edition

1931 6th Edition St Lucia Distillers Rum Review by the fat rum pirate1931 St Lucia Distillers 6th Edition. Hard to believe we are upto the 6th edition of this annual release, already. We had to wait a while for the 5th edition to arrive in the UK. This arrived about the same time, towards the end of 2017.

We’ve reviewed all of the previous St Lucia 1931 bottlings and I snapped a bottle (or two) of these up as soon as I could. As with all the 1931 bottlings, I have taken my time with the review as they are very complex at times challenging rums. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Kill Devil Jamaica Hampden Distillery Aged 10 Years – The Whisky Barrel Exclusive

Kill Devil Jamaica Hampden Distillery Aged 10 Years Rum Review by the fat rum pirate The Whisky BarrelKill Devil Jamaica Hampden Distillery Aged 10 Years – The Whisky Barrel Exclusive. An exclusive bottling sees one of Scotland’s younger rum bottlers, team up with a relatively youthful Scottish retailer in the shape of The Whisky Barrel.

The Whisky Barrel have been earning a great reputation over the past few years. Focusing and stocking Independent bottlings of both whisky and rum. Obviously my attention has always focused on the rum. They heavily feature two of my favourite UK based Indie bottlers. Bristol Classic Rum and Hunter Laing’s Kill Devil range. Compagnie des Indes Caraibes

Compagnie Des Indes Caraibes Blend Rum Review by the fat rum pirateCompagnie des Indes Caraibes. The French Independent bottler Compagnie des Indes have been making great strides over the past couple of years. They have expanded from releasing rums at 43-46% ABV and are now moving into Cask Strength bottlings.

A fair few of these have went to the Danish market and have been pretty difficult to come by in the UK and mainland Europe. Generous samples from enthusiasts in Denmark have helped me try some of these rums. Fortunately Compagnie des Indes Caraibes is/was a little easier to access. Our Rum and Spirits W.I.R.D 2000

Our Rum and Spirits WIRD W.I.R.D Rum Review by the fat rum pirateOur Rum and Spirits W.I.R.D. 2000. Our Rum and Spirits are an Independent bottler from Germany. They were set up by restauranter Christian Nagel who upon discovering how popular rum was becoming with his guests, decided to start importing and distributing rums which would be uniquely his.

W.I.R.D is the abbreviation of the West Indies Rum Distillery. This has recently been taken over by Alexandre Gabriel of Plantation Rum. Prior to this W.I.R.D only produced the Cockspur brand and survived mostly by selling bulk rum. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating
