Tomahawk Maple Cream

Tomahawk Maple Rum Cream review by the fat rum pirateTomahawk Maple Cream is a rum cream.  Many cheaper “Irish Cream” type drinks are mixtures of cream, sugar neutral spirits or even wine in some instances.

Tomahawk Maple Cream hails from Quebec, Canada and is a blend of cream, sugar, spices, the very best (of course) Maple Syrup and rum. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Bristol Classic Rum Providence Estate 1990-2012

imageIn late 2015 a curious bottling of Trinidad rum – Providence Estate arrived on the scene from Bristol Classic Rum.  It certainly caught my attention somewhat more than perhaps yet another Caroni offering.

Which turned out to be a bit of shame for me as this is in fact another Caroni Offering (we think)! Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Bristol Classic Rum Rockley Still 1986 (Sherry Finish)

Bristol Classic Rum Rockley Still Rum Review by the fat rum pirateThe Rockley Still from which this Bristol Classic Rum takes its name is quite a mythical creature.

Fortunately for me it has been explored in great detail by Nikos Arvantis and published over at Steve James’ Rum Diaries Blog.

Bristol Classic Rum have released a good few variations of this Rockley Still 1986 distillate over the years.  This bottling is a Sherry Finish and more specifically an Oloroso Sherry finish. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Velier Uitvlugt 1996 Modified GS

Velier Uitvlugt 1996 Modified GS Rum Review by the fat rum pirateVelier are an Italian Independent bottler.  One of the few bottlers that focus on rum rather than Whisky.  Velier have been setting the standards for independent bottlers since the 1990’s and led by the irrepressible Luca Gargano, they are showing no signs of slowing down.

You are probably wondering (like I was) about the strange name of this rum.  Velier or rather Luca individually visits and selects specific casks from Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL).  Then unlike many other independent bottlers the casks remain at DDL to benefit from Tropical ageing.  The rum is then brought to England where it is bottled before being sold mostly to mainland Europe. 1931 St Lucia Distillers – 3rd Edition

1931 3rd edition Rum Review by the fat rum pirate1931 from St Lucia Distillers.  This turquoise coloured offering is the 3rd edition in the series.

Originally released to commemorate 80 years of rum production by St Lucia Distillers this rum or to be more accurate these rums – as they are all entirely different blends have become something of a flagship rum for St Lucia Distillers. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Bristol Classic Rum Port Morant Demerara Rum 25 Years Old

Bristol Pot Morant review by the fat rum pirateBristol Classic Rum are an Independent bottler based unsurprisingly in Bristol, England.  Over the years they have released several variations of their 1990 and 1999 Port Morant Demerara rums. NB Port Morant is their spelling error not mine I’m aware it should really be Mourant.

This is the latest release of their 1990 distillate and it comes in the typical red colour scheme.  Much like Veliers bottlings they stick to certain colours for rums from a particular still. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating
