Royal Jamaican Rum Aged 12 Years

Royal Jamaican Rum Aged 12 Years Rum Review by the fat rum pirateRoyal Jamaican Rum Aged 12 Years. This is a rum brand from National Rums of Jamaica (NRJ) and hails from the Monymusk distillery. I have seen this brand online but have rarely seen any reviews or discussion around it.

Monymusk does rather fly under the radar a bit, when it comes to online rum discussions etc. Appleton, Hampden and Worthy Park get much more coverage when it comes to Jamaican Rum. The only review I could find on this brand from any serious writer was a 20011 review of their Gold entry level rum by Lance over at The Lone Caner. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Ratu Dark Rum Aged 5 Years

Ratu Dark Rum Aged 5 Years Rum Review by the fat rum pirateRatu Dark Rum Aged 5 Years. It is perhaps a reflection of just how competitive (and cut throat) the Drinks Industry is, that a rum produced in conjunction with Coca-Cola has made next to no real impact upon the Rum World.

Ratu Dark Rum is produced by the Rum Co. of Fiji who distil all their products at the South Pacific Rum Distillery in Lautoka, Fiji. The distillery is best known to most Rum Geeks as the South Pacific Distillery. It is the only rum distillery on Fiji. It has been active since 1980. As well as the Ratu and Bati branded rums they also produce Bounty Rum. Which should not be confused with the Mars confectionery bar, or the rum range from Saint Lucia Distillers. I reviewed the Fiji Overproof Bounty rum a while back. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Saint James Royal Ambre 45%

Saint James Royal Ambre 45% Rum Review by the fat rum pirateSaint James Royal Ambre 45%. A pleasant surprise when on holiday in Salou, Spain, was stumbling across a litre bottle of this difficult to find 45% ABV Royal Ambre.

Whilst the Saint James brand is omnipresent in France, it is not so popular in Spain. This particular bottling I had not seen available in the UK for quite some time. Only the 40% ABV version. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Cachaca Sebastiana Duas Barricas Quatro Anos

Prior to the release of the Sebastiana brand in 2014, the distillery produced (and still does) Cachaca Faceira. It was the second generation of cachaca producers in the Mattos family who decided to enter what they term as the “Super Premium” cachaca market. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Vale Verde 12 Anos

Vale Verde 12 Anos Rum review by the fat rum pirateVale Verde 12 Anos. This cachaca has a very good reputation and is widely available (there is even a stockist here in the UK). It has won some quite prestigious awards since it’s release back in 2012.

Vale Verde 12 Anos is a 12 year old cachaca, which has been aged in European oak. It hails from Betim, Minas Gerais. A region well known for its excellent cachaca. The distillery is situated in “Vale Verde Alambique e Parque Ecologica” at Rua Ary Barbosa da Silva. This development houses the distillery which produced Vale Verde, a cachaca museum (which has over 2,000 cachacas on display) and a recreational/sight seeing park complete with man made waterfalls and various activities such as archery for visitors to enjoy.
