Jung and Wulff Luxury Rums No 2 Guyana

Jung and Wulff Luxury Rums No 2 Guyana rum review by the fat rum pirateJung and Wulff Luxury Rums No 2 Guyana. As mentioned in my previous Jung and Wulff review, I wasn’t aware of the history of the importation of spirits into New Orleans. Nor the pivotal role these two entrepreneurs played in it.

Anyhow, Sazerac have decided to honour the pair with a trio of rums. Hailing from arguably the three most recognised rum producing islands/nations in the Caribbean. Least as far as molasses based rum is concerned anyway. Some Agricole producers may think otherwise. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Jung and Wulff Luxury Rums No 1 Trinidad

Jung and Wulff Luxury Rums No 1 Trinidad Rum Review by the fat rum pirateJung and Wulff Luxury Rums No 1 Trinidad. I’ll be honest with you all, I can’t say I had heard of L.E Jung and Frederick Wulff before coming across this range of “Luxury Rums” from Sazerac.

However, they were responsible for importing the finest spirits into New Orleans and are past owners of The Sazerac House and Peychaud’s Bitters. This range of 3 rums have been released as a reminder of their pioneering work. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Mezan Diamond Distillery Guyana 2007 PX Cask Finish

Mezan Diamond Distillery Guyana 2007 P.X. Cask Finish Rum review by the fat rum pirateMezan Diamond Distillery Guyana 2007 PX Cask Finish. I’ve not been reviewing a great deal of Independent Bottlings of late. I’m not going to pretend I’m wearing some kind of halo and advocating Distillery Bottlings. Thing is though, with the likes of Foursquare, Worthy Park and Hampden Estate producing so many of their own bottlings over the past few years, I’ve found my buying habits pointing more in that direction. Privateer International Letter of Marque Sisters in Arms TWE Exclusive

Privateer International Letter of Marque Sisters in Arms rum review by the fat rum piratePrivateer International Letter of Marque Sisters in Arms TWE Exclusive. TWE for those who have are unaware is the commonly used abbreviation for The Whisky Exchange, which is increasingly focusing attention on rum. They have their own rum brand in the shape of The Black Tot and more and more of these “exclusive” rums are popping up. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Levy Lane Rum Co Tamosi Kanaima

Tamosi Kanaima Guyana Versailles Still rum review by the fat rum pirateLevy Lane Rum Co Tamosi Kanaima. I’m no stranger to Independently bottled Demerara Rum. Which is what this intriguingly named release actually is.

I’ve also reviewed two of Levy Lane Rum Co’s more “regular” (ie not Single Cask) releases. Overall, I’ve been quite impressed with both, so I’m looking forward to this review. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Requiem SS Ferret Australian Pot Still Rum

Requiem SS Ferret Australian Pot Still Rum review by the fat rum pirateRequiem SS Ferret Australian Pot Still Rum. I was going to leave the title of this bottling as Requiem SS Ferret – but I thought it looked a bit strange! So I’ve added another prominent feature, on the front label to the title.

I’ve not reviewed many rums from Australia. Despite a dreadful experience with Bundaberg, I wouldn’t say I’ve been put off trying Australian rum. Logistically though, its just difficult to get my hands on any Australian rum. Very little is imported into Europe and buying from Australia seems a bit of a headache. Foursquare Rum Distillery Sassafras

Foursquare Rum Distillery Sassafras Rum review by the fat rum pirateFoursquare Rum Distillery Sassafras. Had Foursquare called their iconic first collaboration with Velier Sassafras instead of 2006 – then this rum could have been called Sassafras 2. This release is essentially 2006, only older to all intents and purposes.

We’ve not seen a lot of Foursquare rum that has been matured in ex-cognac casks. The excellent 2013 and 2006 being the only ones I can think of. Sadly for me those are both rums which I no longer have access to. I did buy multiple bottles of the 2013 and intended to keep a bottle back. Unfortunately, I ended up drinking it.
