The renaissance of the Worthy Park Estate and Hampden finally bottling their own aged rum, along with a number of very interesting high ester Jamaican bottlings from the likes of Kill Devil and Letter of Marque. All this activity, has really invigorated Jamaican rum. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

JAH45 Silver Rum

JAH45 Silver Rum Review by the fat rum pirateJAH45 Silver Rum. This is the latest rum in the JAH45 line up to get a review here. It follows on from the Gold and Dark iterations of the brand.

The brand has it’s own website, which outlines its full portfolio of 5 rums from Silver to Spiced and everything in between.

JAH45 Silver is a blend of Column distilled rum from Clarendon and Pot Still rum from Monymusk, New Yarmouth and Hampden. I am unsure of the age but I think the oldest rum in the blend is around 3 years old. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Velier National Rums of Jamaica Ltd Cambridge ST♥CE 2005

Velier National Rums of Jamaica Ltd Cambridge ST♥CE 2005 Rum Review by the fat rum pirateVelier National Rums of Jamaica Ltd Cambridge ST♥CE 2005. In 2018, Independent bottler Velier released four rums from National Rums of Jamaica, this is the second of those releases that I have reviewed.

This rum was distilled at the legendary Long Pond Distillery. It has been given the Cambridge moniker, in reference to the ester classification used at the now closed Cambridge Distillery. Cambridge ST♥CE refers to rums with a ester level between 550 and 700 gr/hlpa. In the grander scheme of things, this is mid level ester levels but most commercially available Jamaican rums are much lower in esters. This is funky stuff! Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating

Rum Exchange Jamaica St Catherine 5 Year Old Ruby Port Finish rum review by the fat rum pirateRum Exchange Jamaica St Catherine 5 Year Old Ruby Port Finish. This is the second of the two Jamaican rums which have recently been release by Austrian Independent bottler The Rum Exchange. As well as an online store, The Rum Exchange also have a Facebook page for all things rum.

I reviewed and thoroughly enjoyed their first Jamaican release from Hampden Estate so I am looking forward to trying this offering. A producer which I have been championing for some time now. Read more to see the fatrumpirate rating
